Chiefs name Cane, Ngatai as co-captains

Cape Town - Sam Cane and Charlie Ngatai have been named as co-captains of the Chiefs for the upcoming Super Rugby season.

According the Stuff website, Colin Cooper, the new Chiefs coach for this year's competition has followed on in the tradition where shared leadership has featured at the franchise since 2012.

Ngatai takes over from Aaron Cruden who now plays his rugby in France while Cane will assume the leadership role for the third season in a row.

Cane, who has played 95 times for the Chiefs, has also captained the All Blacks on two occasions.

The Chiefs begin their Super Rugby campaign on Saturday, February 24 with a daunting away fixture against last year's champions, the Crusaders, at Christchurch.

Kick-off is at 08:35 SA time.
