Chiefs halfback banned three weeks for stamping

Wellington - Rookie Chiefs halfback Finlay Christie was suspended for three weeks on Monday after pleading guilty to stamping on an opponent's head.

The incident occurred during the Chiefs 16-7 Super rugby win over the Force in Perth on Saturday, with SANZAAR's judiciary later determining it warranted a red card.

SANZAAR said Christie would normally be facing a six-week ban but it was reduced to three due to his guilty plea, inexperience and excellent disciplinary record.

The 22-year-old, who is in his debut season with the Chiefs, will be sidelined until his team meets the Blues on May 26.
