Cheetahs won’t get overconfident

Cape Town - Cheetahs head coach Franco Smith isn't worried about any overconfidence within his squad after their 92-17 win over the Sunwolves.

Smith and his squad have jetted out to Australia to prepare for this Friday's contest in Melbourne against the Rebels.

After scoring 14 tries last Friday, tying the record for the most by one team in a Super Rugby game, Smith hopes to see his young squad play with the same exuberance against the Rebels.

Describing the state of his laidback group, Smith revealed the Cheetahs have been working as hard as ever this week and aren't resting on their laurels.

“It isn’t difficult to handle this week, we are a group of humble guys and we’ve been working towards a performance like this for weeks now,” Smith told SuperSport.com.

“We just have to keep on concentrating on our processes, so the scoreline didn’t make too much of a difference to us, we know there is still a lot of hard work ahead for us. It’s back to basics and back to hard work this week.

“There is a good culture in the team at the moment and it isn’t necessary for me to check on them, they look after themselves.

"I have no doubt they will use the win as a confidence booster and not to pick up any sort of arrogance.”

Friday’s clash at AAMI Park is scheduled for 11:45.
