Bloemfontein - Cheetahs captain Torsten van Jaarsveld has been ruled out for the remainder of the Super Rugby season with a neck injury.
The 29-year-old picked up an injury that was later confirmed as a bulging disc in his neck while on duty for the Namibian national side at the World Rugby Nations' Cup that took place in Uruguay from June 10-18.
He has been ruled out for six to eight weeks.
The Cheetahs' injury woes do not stop there.
Springbok flank Oupa Mohoje is still being assessed after picking up a concussion in the second Test against France in Durban while there is also concern over Paul Schoeman, who is still suffering from thrombosis after his flight to Australia last month.
The Cheetahs take on the Stormers in Bloemfontein on Saturday as Super Rugby resumes following the international break.
