Cape Town - The Cheetahs are mourning the passing of one of their most loyal fans, Honiball Marais.
The Cheetahs released the following statement on their Facebook page on Thursday, honouring Marais.
"Free State Rugby is deeply saddened by the loss of a legend, Honiball Marais. Honiball was probably one of the Cheetahs’ biggest and most loyal fans. He and his friend, Jakes Jacobs, never missed a game - home or away, in sunshine or rain. They were always there waving their flags next to the field.
"We’re really going to miss you, Honiball. Our sympathy and condolences to his loved ones, family and friends. Rest in peace.
"His legacy will be honoured in an appropriate way at the Super Rugby match between the Cheetahs and the Brumbies in Toyota Stadium."
Saturday's Cheetahs v Brumbies clash is scheduled for 15:05.
