Cape Town - The Crusaders were given a warm reception by a group of approximately 500 supporters on their arrival back in New Zealand.

A Fijian women's choir could be heard throughout the airport and they were in full voice prior to the Cantabrian heroes arrival.

The Crusaders were first confronted by three fans who were dressed in knight's costumes in honour of the team's name and logo. They were then greeted by numerous fans, both young and old, who couldn't contain their excitement and pride.

Ryan Crotty told the Stuff website that he's looking forward to sharing a few beers with team-mates who didn't make the trip to South Africa.

Meanwhile, Crusaders wing Israel Dagg admitted he was a "bit worse for wear", but loved being home.

Coach Scott Robertson, who made a name for himself when he started breakdancing on the field after the victory, was surrounded by fans who were eager to meet and congratulate him.

Local Crusaders fans will be given the opportunity to see their team and the trophy this afternoon. This will be followed by a short parade and civic reception to celebrate the champions and will take place in Christchurch.

A Christchurch City Council spokesperson said the team would walk west on Worcester Blvd, starting at Cambridge Tce, at 16:00. They would walk the block to the Christchurch Art Gallery, where a civic reception would be held.
