Carter boots neck brace into touch

Cape Town - All Blacks great Dan Carter has booted his neck brace into touch after he recently underwent surgery to fix a cervical spine problem.

Carter has spent the last seven weeks wearing the brace to heal his injured neck after the injury was discovered when the 37-year-old failed a medical with his former French club, Racing 92, in March.

"Some great news. The specialist is happy my neck is healing well and everything is on track. But the best thing is, I can get rid of this," Carter said when sharing a video on Instagram.

To great relief, the former All Blacks flyhalf then booted his neck brace across a garden.

"Oh my goodness, 24/7 with this for the last seven weeks. "How good. You beauty."

Carter signed for Racing 92 on a medical joker deal in mid-February as a replacement for South African Pat Lambie, who was forced to retire due to concussions, but he failed a medical and needed surgery in April.

Carter retired from international duty after winning the last World Cup with the All Blacks in England in 2015.
