Bulls part ways with young wing

Cape Town - The Bulls have parted ways with Nigerian-born wing Luther Obi.

A former Junior Springbok, Obi had been on the union's books since late 2015. He played in two matches for the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup Qualifiers last year, but due to injury, missed a large chunk of the season.

He is currently fit again and had been named in the Bulls' squad for the 2017 Super Rugby season, but he has not played at all this tournament with the Bulls backing Travis Ismaiel and Jamba Ulengo.

According to a Bulls representative, the 23-year-old Obi had been "given an opportunity elsewhere" and, after talks with the union a mutual agreement was made to release the player from his contract.

The Bulls have won one of their three Super Rugby matches this season and are currently in New Zealand where fixtures against the Blues and Chiefs await.
