Cape Town - The Bulls' high-performance manager Xander Janse van Rensburg has resigned from his post.

The Blue Bulls Rugby union confirmed Janse van Rensburg's resignation in a statement released to the press on Tuesday afternoon.

Janse van Rensburg had occupied the role since 2012 and was responsible for the Bulls' talent identification and management of their professional teams and academy structures.

The University of Pretoria law graduate had previously worked as the union’s coordinator of schools and high-performance activities where he was involved in the scouting and recruiting of junior players.

Janse van Rensburg thanked the Bulls for the opportunities afforded to him at the union. “I would like to sincerely thank the Blue Bulls company and the Blue Bulls Rugby Union for the opportunities they have afforded me. Thank you for the help, support and opportunity granted to be a part of such a special brand. It is impossible to express my gratitude in words, and it is with a grateful heart that I bid farewell to my beloved Bulls family."

“This was not an easy decision to make, I have come to love this brand that is deeply entrenched within me, and I shall forever be a supporter thereof. I would like to specifically thank the Board of Directors, CEOs, Presidents, players, sponsors, staff, management personnel and most importantly the fans that has supported me. I wish the team, the franchise and the stakeholders all the best for a future filled with victories, trophies and celebrations,” said Janse van Rensburg.

Alfonso Meyer, CEO of the Blue Bulls company, wished Janse van Rensburg well with his future endeavours. “On behalf of everybody at Loftus, I would like to wish him everything of the best with the next phase of his life.”

The Bulls open their 2019 Super Rugby campaign against the Stormers in Pretoria on Saturday (17:15 kick-off).
