Brumbies too good for Rebels in Melbourne

Cape Town - The Brumbies stretched their lead atop the Australian Conference with victory over the Rebels in their Vodacom Super Rugby clash in Melbourne on Friday.

As it happened: Rebels v Brumbies

The Brumbies won 30-22 after leading 20-10 at half-time.

The Brumbies scored five tries through flanks David Pocock and Scott Fardy, lock Rory Arnold, flyhalf Christian Lealiifano and wing Nigel Ah Wong. Lealiifano had an off night with the boot, only landing a single conversion and penalty.

The Rebels replied with three tries by centres Cam Crawford and Reece Hodge, and wing Sefa Naivalu. Flyhalf Jack Debreczeni added two conversions and a penalty.

The Brumbies picked up four points for their victory, entrenching their spot atop the Australian Conference and second in the Australasian Group.

The Rebels left empty-handed and stayed third in the Australian Conference and eighth in the Australasian Group.

In next weekend's Round 13 action, the Brumbies have a bye, while the Rebels travel to Hamilton to face the Chiefs (Saturday, May 21 at 09:35 SA time).
