Brumbies sign Mitre Cup flyhalf

Wellington - The Brumbies have reportedly signed Stags flyhalf Wharenui Hawera for the 2017 Super Rugby season.

Stuff.co.nz reports Hawera have been training with the Brumbies on a trial basis since last month and has been offered a contract for next year.

Hawera left Waikato for Southland earlier this year where he impressed, leading to interest from the Australian Super Rugby franchise.

He will return to the Stags for a second season at the conclusion of Super Rugby.
