'Brumbies not certain of play-offs' - Pocock

    2016-05-25 21:47

Cape Town - Brumbies flanker David Pocock doesn't believe his side are certain of a play-off place, even though their remaining league matches are against some of the tournament's weaker sides.

The Canberra outfit, who are in second place in the Australian Conference, one point adrift of the Waratahs, take on the Sunwolves in Canberra this weekend before the tournament's one month break for the June internationals.

They return to action on July 1 with another home fixture against the Reds before taking on the Blues in Auckland the following weekend. They finish off their league campaign against the Force in Canberra.

And even though the Waratahs appear to have a tougher run-in - against the Chiefs, Sunwolves, Hurricanes and Blues - Pocock is taking nothing for granted and said it would be silly to write the Sydneysiders off.

"I don't think so," Pocock told Fairfax Media when asked if it made him feel better seeing the Brumbies' straightforward run for the rest of the season.

"The 'Tahs on their day will beat anyone. They've got the players to really step up when they need to and I think they'll be looking to do that over the next few weeks.

"While we've got teams that maybe aren't the top of the ladder, Sunwolves drew with the Stormers last week and we got done by the Stormers. It's one of those competitions where there's really no easy games.

"We've got the opportunity and it's up to us to make the most of it. We've got four games to get into the finals so we've got to win them all. There's no guarantees."
