head coach Stephen Larkham will be leading the franchise again in 2017
after agreeing a one-year deal, it has been announced.
The announcement was made at the annual Brumby Ball held in Canberra.
Larkham has been in the role of head coach for the past two seasons after first joining the Brumbies coaching ranks ahead of the 2011 Super Rugby season.
In his time as a coach, the Sport Australia Hall of Fame inductee has helped the Brumbies reach the past four finals series in a row and in 2016 led the ACT franchise to the Australian Super Rugby Conference title.
Larkham, who played 127 Super Rugby matches for the side between 1996-2007 and was a part of both Super Rugby titles for the Brumbies says he's looking forward to a big year in 2017.
"I'm very pleased to be sticking with the Brumbies," Larkham told the team's website.
"The Brumbies has been a part of my life for over 20 years now.
"We've come close the past few years and I really believe we are building something for the future. The attitude and quality of the players and program we have set up is superb."
The Rugby World Cup winner says the one-year deal will allow him to reassess his future over the coming months and under this agreement he will continue in his dual role as Wallabies attack coach for the remainder of 2016 and for the June Test series in 2017.
"Signing a one-year deal allows us to get on with planning for the 2017 season," Larkham said.
"I want to see the Brumbies win the Super Rugby title. Equally I want to do whatever I can to help the Wallabies win a World Cup.
"We came very close to achieving both those goals last year and I guess they are both real driving factors for me as a coach for the future.
"It's obviously a tough decision to make on whether I want to continue in dual roles or focus primarily on one or the other. That is something I will sit down with my family and decide over the next few months.
"Right now I’m very happy to have extended my time at the Brumbies as head coach."
