Brumbies edge plucky Force

Cape Town - The Brumbies ran out comfortable 31-14 winners against the Western Force in an Australian Super Rugby derby in Perth on Friday.

The Brumbies had cruised to a 17-0 lead through tries from Stephen Moore and Matt Toomua, but the Force showed some resilience in the second quarter and were rewarded with a try of their own through right wing Luke Morahan.

The visitors led 17-7 at the break after both sides had spent periods of the first half with only 14 men on the field.

The Force continued to show fight in the second half, but Joseph Tomane went over the Brumbies in the 55th minute as the Force slipped 17 points behind again.

A neat grubber from Peter Grant then set up the Force's second try through Ben Tapuai, and they were 24-14 down going into the final 10 minutes.

But it wasn't to be for the hosts, and substitute Josh Mann-Rea scored in the final seconds to secure the Brumbies win.
