Cape Town - The Brumbies have beaten the Cheetahs in a forgettable Super Rugby clash in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
As it happened: Cheetahs v Brumbies
The Brumbies won 25-18 after leading 15-8 at half-time.
In a match dominated by rolling mauls, penalties and rain in the second half, the Brumbies bounced back from their defeat against the Stormers last weekend to head home with a one-from-two record in the country.
The Brumbies scored three tries through No 8 Ita Vaea, fullback Aiden Toua and prop Ben Alexander. Flyhalf Christian Lealiifano added a conversion and two penalties, while centre Matt Toomua chipped in with a conversion.
The Cheetahs replied with tries by flank Uzair Cassiem and wing Sergeal Petersen. Flyhalf Niel Marais landed a conversion and two penalties.
The Brumbies picked up four points for their victory, while the Cheetahs left with one for losing by seven or fewer points.
In next weekend's Round 6 action, the Brumbies host the Chiefs in Canberra (Saturday, April 2 at 10:45 SA time), while the Cheetahs head to Loftus Versfeld to take on the Bulls later that same day (19:15).
