Bok centre to dedicate match to late mother

Cape Town - Springbok centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg will play for the Lions against the Waratahs on Saturday, despite the death of his mother earlier in the week.

Janse van Rensburg’s mother, Renthia, passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer.

But the 22-year-old has decided to face the Australians this weekend, dedicating the match in honour of his late mother.

He wrote a heart-warming message on Instagram, where he said his mother was his hero.

Janse Van Rensburg, who made his Test debut against Wales in Cardiff last year, will line up in midfield alongside Harold Vorster.

Saturday’s Super Rugby clash between the Lions and Waratahs at Ellis Park is scheduled for 15:05.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
