Blues confirm new co-captains for Super Rugby 2019

Cape Town - The Blues under new coach Leon MacDonald have confirmed the appointment of co-captain for the upcoming 2019 Super Rugby season.

According to the Rugby Pass website, Blake Gibson and Patrick Tuipulotu will share the leadership responsibilities in Auckland this season.

“It is a real benefit to have two players of this calibre who are from our region and are so committed to the club and the people we represent,” said MacDonald.

“Blake and Patrick, together with all our 2019 squad and management group, are hungry for success and these two will get the team following them both on and off the field.”

The Blues, once a powerhouse in Super Rugby, have slipped behind their New Zealand counterparts in recent years.

They last made the tournament playoffs in 2011.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
