Black weekend for SA teams?

Cape Town - Die-hard South African Super Rugby fans are in for another black weekend of results - if bookmakers are to be believed...

Coming off a horror Round 10 in which only one (the Bulls) of the six South African franchises recorded a victory, comes the realisation that all four SA teams in action this weekend enter their respective matches as underdogs, according to leading SA bookies, Sportingbet.

First up on Friday, May 6, the Bulls are six-point favourites to go down to the Brumbies in Canberra (11:40).

On Saturday morning (11:40), the Cheetahs are 14-point underdogs against a resurgent Waratahs team in Sydney. The Cheetahs have lost both their matches on tour to date - and are likely to make that a hat-trick of defeats.

On South African soil on Saturday, the Sharks represent the country's best hope of a victory in Round 11, but are three-point unfancied starters against a red-hot Hurricanes team coming off dishing out 50 points to the Lions. That match in Durban kicks off at 15:00.

The final match of the weekend (17:05) sees the Kings host the Blues in Port Elizabeth. The match may be a bottom of the Africa Conference 2 v bottom of the New Zealand Conference clash, but don't underestimate those Blues!

Tana Umaga's men will head into the match as hugely fancied victors - by 27 points in fact.

The Stormers and Lions enjoy byes this weekend.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
