Another Sharks centre in the citing dock

Cape Town - Sharks centre Marius Louw has been cited for alleged foul play during their Super Rugby match against the Rebels in Durban on Saturday.

Louw is alleged to have contravened Law 9.11: Players must not do anything that is reckless or dangerous to others and Law 9.13: A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.

Upon further review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee which will take place on Monday, March 25 via video-conference.

Louw was shown a yellow card for his actions, in a match the Sharks won 28-14.

Should Louw be banned, he will join fellow Sharks midfielder Jeremy Ward who was banned for five matches for a tip-tackle against the Bulls on March 9, on the sidelines.
