6 more Lions extend their JHB stay

Cape Town - Following the announcement on Monday that Elton Jantjies and Lionel Mapoe had signed one-year contract extensions with the Lions, six more players have put pen to paper to stay at the Johannesburg-based franchise.

The Super Rugby runners-up on Tuesday released a statement announcing that captain and No 8 Warren Whiteley, hooker Malcolm Marx, scrumhalf Ross Cronje, wing Aphiwe Dyantyi, flank Cyle Brink and lock Marvin Orie have all penned contract extensions.

Whiteley, Marx, Cronje and Dyantyi are currently training with the Springboks ahead of Saturday's Rugby Championship opener against the Pumas.

The Lions recently lost a number of players overseas including flank Jaco Kriel, lock Franco Mostert, centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg and props Ruan Dreyer and Jacques van Rooyen
