White hunting Boks' Rossouw

Cape Town - Brumbies coach Jake White is eager to claim the services of Springbok forward Danie Rossouw for next year's Super Rugby campaign.

Rossouw has already signed to play with Japanese club Suntory, but could fit in a season of Super Rugby.

Suntory is coached by Eddie Jones, who assisted White when he was still the South African coach when they won the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

Jones is now also a consultant to White at the Brumbies.

According to Bret Harris from the Australian, White is eager for Rossouw to join him at the Brumbies - who currently lack experience at lock.

"That's one thing we would obviously look at, but Danie has to commit to it," said White.

"He has just finished a Super Rugby campaign. He is going to Japan. I want Eddie to be happy with the fact there is a win-win for him as well.

"A guy like Danie Rossouw, if we could get a deal, that would be fantastic."

White has apparently also approached several South African and New Zealand Test second-rowers, but no-one wanted to commit with the World Cup just around the corner.

"I approached a couple of the South African boys and I approached a couple of the Kiwi boys. Top internationals. But they are sceptical about putting their hand up in case they jeopardise their (World Cup) selections," said White.

"It would be fair to say in Australia generally there are not too many second-rowers around. I found in Australia a lot of second-rowers are very young. I'm trying to get a more experienced guy.

"I'll wait and see who I can get to fulfil that role. I would rather get a guy into my squad sooner rather than later."
