WP signs young stars

2012-03-06 16:27

Cape Town - The Western Province Rugby Union on Tuesday signed long-term deals with four of its brightest young stars.

Lock Eben Etzebeth, loose forward Siya Kolisi and props Steven Kitshoff and Frans Malherbe all signed with the union until the end of 2015.

This will please WP and Stormers fans as the union has become renowned in recent years for letting talented young players slip through its grasp.

All four are still only 20 years old and were instrumental in the Stormers' victory over the Sharks at Newlands on Saturday.

Kitshoff and Malherbe scrummed exceptionally well against the Sharks, which laid the platform for their eventual 15-12 victory.

Etzebeth and Kolisi were equally impressive, standing no inch back against more experienced opposition and showing good, controlled aggression.

Well Done WPRU for doing the right thing. Now just get some of our home grown boys back. e.g hougie and Saadie.

      Bulldozer - 2012-03-06 16:35

Nee wat, both of them saw the light.

      Stormkaap - 2012-03-06 16:41

Dozey you just jealous that after you saw/heard how well Kolisi and Etsebeth played you were just downright naar! Especially as you strong ladyboy got his head split and tackled into the Bloem dust by a rookie 20yr scrummie. Notwistanding the fact that these laaities will show him up in the contact.

      Bulldozer - 2012-03-06 17:00

Yes Sulaiman, I heard how well they played from Row Houwing. That says it all.

      pieter.thefuture - 2012-03-06 17:37

@Bulldozer - Nee wat, both of them saw the cash - bought not bred, onthou net, eendag mag iemand ander vir hulle meer geld aanbied en dan sal hulle gaan.

Soos Habana.

  • Saffa - 2012-03-06 16:32

Sad to think you play 2 games for WP and then you called a "star" Foeitog, seker maar met min teverede

      Bulldozer - 2012-03-06 16:44

Especially fake Saffa. She carries on like theres no tomorrow everytime a youngster who plays rugby in Cape Town is mentioned.

      Ben - 2012-03-06 16:46

Saffa, jy is n groot bek.

      Saffa - 2012-03-06 17:17

@Bull How boring she has become

  • Henri - 2012-03-06 16:34

      Stormkaap - 2012-03-07 09:28

  • david.j.payle - 2012-03-06 16:50

BEST NEWS I'VE HEARD IN WEEKS!!!

  • Niel - 2012-03-06 16:58

Etzebeth, Kolisi and malherbe are excellent signing. NOT convinced on kitshoff. Yes he is young and i understand he is a prop, but he is soooooo slow and looks weak when comparing to national and international props. We will see, im not saying he wont blossom.

      Morne - 2012-03-06 17:24

Did you watch the game, go ask the Sharks frontrow.

  • elize.putter - 2012-03-06 18:03

As a neutral Lions fan, the way most, not all, Bulls supporters invariably get arrogant, and worse, personal with fans of any other team, SA or otherwise, would be good for a daily laugh if it weren't so damn sad. Those 4 WP youngsters are just as talented as any other rookies coming up in SA rugby, and good on the Stormers for keeping them. As long as they don't go overseas SA rug can only benefit, which is the most important thin. By miles. UNITY people!!!! I honestly think the lack of it is what's stopping us being and staying no.1 in the world, which is where we belong!!!

      Stephan - 2012-03-06 18:29

      thanks steven. Well said.

      Alexander - 2012-03-06 19:35

@Jimmy. Bud, Steven calls for unity... you then launch into an attack on the bulls supporters. Go for unity! Your Holland remark is racist to say the least.

      Bulldozer - 2012-03-06 19:59

Thanks Alex, you sound like a wise man.

  • Alexander - 2012-03-06 19:25

    Zoolie, you total puff!

  • Ignatius - 2012-03-06 19:43

    Dit was n fout!!!!

  • Melt - 2012-03-06 20:55

      Saffa - 2012-03-06 21:11

      Bulldozer - 2012-03-06 21:13

      Melt, 'Bulldowzer' is my neef.

  • Miko - 2012-03-06 21:13

Provinsialisme in SA erg.

  • Francois - 2012-03-07 09:16
