Vermeulen back for Bulls derby

Cape Town - The Stormers welcome back influential captain Duane Vermeulen as they prepare to face the Bulls in a Super Rugby derby at Newlands on Saturday.

Vermeulen, 28, missed the Stormers’ last two games of their Australasian tour - against the Waratahs and Force - after being rested in line with an agreement with SA Rugby to rest top Springboks.

Vermeulen rejoined the Stormers squad at training at their High Performance Centre in Bellville on Tuesday.

The Stormers ended their tour with back-to-back wins and coach Allister Coetzee said the players were excited by the prospect of facing their arch-rivals this weekend.

"It doesn't get much bigger than a North-South derby in Cape Town,” said Coetzee.

"We had a fantastic tour and the guys spent some quality time together, but there is nothing better than being back at home in front of our passionate fans at Newlands. We're certainly looking forward to the challenge!"

Kick-off for Saturday’s clash at Newlands is scheduled for 19:10.
