Trio back to bolster Bulls

2012-05-15 10:43

Johannesburg - Log leaders the Bulls have recalled experienced midfielder Wynand Olivier, loose forward Dewald Potgieter and prop Dean Greyling for Saturday's Super Rugby clash against the Highlanders in Dunedin.

Olivier replaces Francois Venter and Potgieter comes in for injured Deon Stegmann from the side that beat the Waratahs in Sydney last week, having both been declared fit for the match.

Greyling returns to the side after he missed the Waratahs clash due to personal reasons and replaces Dawie Steyn.

Potgieter joined the squad on Sunday after recovering from a hamstring strain and Olivier was rested against the Waratahs in order to recover from bruised ribs.

Flyhalf Morne Steyn will become the sixth player from the franchise to turn out in 100 Super Rugby matches.

Bulls: 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Akona Ndungane, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Wynand Olivier, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Morné Steyn, 9 Francois Hougaard, 8 Pierre Spies (captain), 7 CJ Stander, 6 Dewald Potgieter, 5 Juandré Kruger, 4 Flip van der Merwe, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 1 Dean Greyling

Substitutes: 16 Willie Wepener, 17 Rayno Gerber, 18 Wilhelm Steenkamp, 19 Arno Botha, 20 Jano Vermaak, 21 Louis Fouché, 22 JJ Engelbrecht

  • Harold - 2012-05-15 10:51

Olivier should rather have replaced Sadie, the biggest waste of money since Earl Rose.

      Lionel - 2012-05-15 10:54

So glad he left the Cape:):)

      Pierre - 2012-05-15 11:01

Sadie will come right, hit some form. Only a matter of time. Maybe in June when the bulls will maul the stormers at Loftus, in the age old tradition of stormer mauling.

      Lionel - 2012-05-15 11:05

Pierre, hahahahaaha, age old Stormer mauling, hahahahahahahahaha, who mauled you guys at Loftus last year with your star studded team...wait for it and the answer is(drum roll)The Stormers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Pierre - 2012-05-15 11:09

Lionel, buddy, mauling refers to winning hands down, or with relative ease. Now I cannot remember the Stormers mauling anybody bar the Lions in the last decade. Now, I can clearly remember several instances where the Bulls mauled the stormers. Thus the reference to tradition.

      Lionel - 2012-05-15 11:14

      Whatever makes you happy Pierre!!!!!!

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 11:18

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 11:24

No No No - 1.4 million was according to you chaps, "a bargain, for the best centre in the world?" (that after his various frailties and weaknesses were all pointed out on these very forums at the time.....) And to think some folk were distressed he left the Cape......(JJ however is another story...)

      Harold - 2012-05-15 11:34

Well, he looked so special in a WP jersey, we were all fooled.

      Hanjo - 2012-05-15 11:35

agree Harold, Venter looked good at 12, and the Venter/Olivier combination was very successful at the start of the season. Sadie hasn't impressed, JJ has even looked much better in the 13 jersey

      Anton - 2012-05-15 11:36

@SAFFA we saved R600000 by selling Habana For R2 mil.

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 11:42

@Harold, "Well he looked so good in the gym...he had us all fooled" - GUESS WHO?

      Harold - 2012-05-15 11:44

He fooled himself in the gym.

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 12:06

Spies fooled himself in the gym? Ok, now there is a positive admission from a Bluebird.

  • Lionel - 2012-05-15 10:52

Good luck Dewald, hope you can stay injury free.Bulls should beat tyhe Landers but the Chiefs, thats gonna be something else!!!

      Lionel - 2012-05-15 10:59

Not change of heart,I am South African!!!!They will drop to there after they have played us and Sharks:):)

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 11:01

@lionel- 2 harde wedstryde, 44 harde skerp Bul horings- maak groot di oposisie se agter...lyn

      Lionel - 2012-05-15 11:07

Jap,onthou jy laas jaar toe SBW reg deur meisiekind gehardloop toe hy kamstig gegly het hahahaha

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 11:20

      nee lionel ek onthou ni??

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 11:40

@Lionel - Japjap = selective memory, it's a gypsy thing.....(If I were Japjap and co I would be knocking on Man United's door for advice on how to get the cork BACK into the bubbly bottles)

      Anton - 2012-05-15 11:54

@ SAFFA no they call it last year.

      BlouMasjien - 2012-05-15 11:56

@saffa, Die Stormers/wp het 10jaar ondervinding in kurkproppe terug druk.

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 12:07

Celebrating a little early is what I was referring to. And I would rather call the Crusaders rugby's version of Man U (would you not agree?)

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 12:10

@saffa- jinne saffa, toe jy dit nou kwytraak raak saffa, toe lag ek saffa- jys baie snaaks hoor saffa!!! jys def 1 van di meer 'classy' haasbek kroesader dames daar onder!!! ons geniet jo saffa en onthou saffa, gooi daai weepee humor...

      jack.oosthuysen - 2012-05-15 12:14

Jap. 44 horings? Meisiekind, baie skerp.

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 12:22

@Raven - incorrect old chap. Refresher course: just go back and read the comments for the last few days(from the Blue folk)......then report back to teacher.

  • Schalk - 2012-05-15 11:03

@ Harold, Sadie's sale to the BBRU was WPRU's way of getting you back after selling Habana to us, May i wish you guys (blueraven, tokolos, harold, rene and all the other Bulls supporters always badmouthing my team, its players, its habits etc...) good luck as i for one will be shouting for the Bulls come the weekend. Stormers Groete,

      Pierre - 2012-05-15 11:05

Only team needing luck now is the stormers, ability will no longer suffice as its been depleted.

      Jed - 2012-05-15 11:12

Pierre, we still only 1 point behind you?

      Harold - 2012-05-15 11:15

      Touché, Schalk.

      JouMa - 2012-05-15 11:18

kopdoek is the best you got rumour has it hes been practising hard this week almost tackled the tackle bag

      Pierre - 2012-05-15 11:18

True, 1 point right now. but will you be able to keep winnig over the next three weeks, playing a full strenght Sharks team, and bulls away from home? Tough ask from the young players in the stormers team that must by now be close to burning out, especially guys like Kolisi? And truth be told, you were horrible againt an average Cheetahs team.

      Anton - 2012-05-15 11:21

@Schalk we got rid of Habana on his way down but got Sadie on his way up, he is still a young guy. He will become avery good competitive player

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 11:44

@Anton - Sadie couldn't believe what his mind and body were capable of at the Bulls according to all interviews. So far, his body has done zero(except break down), and he has LOST his mind and all the self confidence and focus he had.......So yes, the Bulls truly work miracles.

      Jed - 2012-05-15 11:50

I agree blueraven, with loses to the Highlanders and the Chiefs you will probably be 8 behind us (note, I'm don't include bonus points)

      Jed - 2012-05-15 11:51

Pierre , Horrible is an understatement , at least we won the fight, he went in Ashley Johnson , he came out Ashlene Jasmin.

      Anton - 2012-05-15 12:04

@valem U just stated the point "Won the Fight"

  • Therealmakoy - 2012-05-15 11:17

Barbie to bolster the bulls... lol

      Anton - 2012-05-15 11:30

And Justin Bieber at fullback for the Stomers

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 11:46

@jy ou groot weepee suster, met jo wanabee BUL t-hempi, moet eerder wegkruip, as AC hierdie profile foto'tji van jo sien, speel jy saterdag 'hooker' vir di girly boys??

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 11:46

Bieber fills stadiums @Anton.......Barbie fills little's girls heads with bubblegum.

      Harold - 2012-05-15 11:50

      Bieber can't play rugby.

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 12:08

And Barbie can? We know Barbie DOES play rugby, but CAN she?

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 12:16

      Harold - 2012-05-15 12:17

3 Super rugby titles, about 3 Currie cup titles and 90 odd Super rugby matches for the leading S.A. team of the last 11 years, says that he can.

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 12:26

She had a few good people around her......

      Anton - 2012-05-15 12:29

@Saffa regte klein skool dogtertjie aanmerkings

      Harold - 2012-05-15 12:30

Blue, I'm just talking about Meisiekind, whom Saffa says can't play rugby. But she is right, we ARE the Man United of rugby.

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 12:43

      @Anton - ou toppie comments.

      Anton - 2012-05-15 13:29

@Saffa the truth of the matter is that is the situation - S14 C/Cup etc trophies. Enjoy your day son

  • Terence.Craig.Berry - 2012-05-15 11:22

Abit of a pity to see Francois Venter dropping out of the 22, I liked the look of the Bulls backline in last years CC with him at 12 and WO at 13. But an extremely strong team, I'm sure the Highlanders will be beaten (with a 4 try bonus point I hope!!)

  • Schalk - 2012-05-15 11:24

@ Pierre, i do understand the concern, but am i the only one that saw a very good Bulls team also battle against the very overrated Waratahs team the past weekend, yet you dont see every Stormer supporter hammering on that fact compared to the Bulls focusing on how bad the Stormers was against the Cheetahs - we got the result (a win) - and i for one can assure you that come 3 June (day after the game on Loftus) that there will still be 0 - 4 points difference on the log between the Stormers and the Bulls... PS: All Bulls supporters whom i wished good luck for the game - as far as i know thank you is no curse word in Pretoria...

      BlouMasjien - 2012-05-15 11:42

      @Schalk, Baie baie dankie !

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 11:49

@Schalk - do not waste your valuable time trying to explain certain abstract concepts (manners, decency, washing your hands after using the bathroom etc) to those who have the brain impulses of vegetables.......

      Anton - 2012-05-15 11:59

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 12:11

@Anton - so what would you call the drivel you and your minions spew here? Oh wait - I have to keep reminding myself that only Bulls fans are entitled to litter these forums with insults and personal attacks.........Verstaan ek nou vir Oom reg?

      Anton - 2012-05-15 12:19

@SAFFA gaan vra vir mamma saffa sy moet jou net so n tikkie ordentlikheid leer

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 12:22

@schalk- saffa se':(manners, decency, washing your hands after using the bathroom etc) ou gaba weet jy wanneer was 'n vrystater sy hande?? net voor hy wee-wee... weet jy wanneer was 'n BUL sy hande?? net nadat hy gewee-wee het.... weet jy wanne was saffa & haar sitbok familie hulle hande- hulle onthou om dit te was?? jap, jy's reg- terwyl hulle wee-wee?? ai, daai 'classy weepee dames...

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 12:46

@Anton - are you always this wimpish? Remove the the plank from your own eye.........

  • Paul Botha - 2012-05-15 11:42

The bulls will be full of confidence this weekend after their two wins and the scrum will be back to its normal strength with dean cause we struggled a bit in the front last week ! So I can only predict a hammering for the highlanders ! Would have liked to c JJ in with wynand !!

  • Schalk - 2012-05-15 12:09

@ Saffa, thanks - Its kind of worrying though. The interesting fact here is the following. 1)We played only one half of the game against the Hurricanes and won, 2) We played only one half against the Bulls and won, 3) We played only one half against the Lions and won, 4) We played only one half against the Cheetahs and won so by playing 4 halfs we bagged 20 points, and its not like some of them saying the refs helped us, against the very same bulls it was not the last penalty that won us the game but the first 40 minutes where they were trailing 14 - 0 and i dont care who says what, in that first 40 against the Bulls they didnt know what hit them...

      Anton - 2012-05-15 12:14

The game is 80 mins long and for the stormers against the Cheetas only 79 mins and 30 sec.

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 12:33

Your game @Anton, is it. @Schalk - And the point you are making is EXACTLY what has the Blue Birds faithful in a state of the Tswane nation panic.....What if: the Stormers in fact play for 80 fact, What if the Stormers play for 70 minutes? What if the Stormers play for 60 minutes even............ The Bulls (and to a lesser extent, The Cheetahs) tried to physically and mentally out-niggle our boys for the 1st 40 minutes. The silly thing about that was: they lost the 1st half, and they lost the physical war - and with that went the game (for them that is....)

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 12:49

What if the stoomers play 30min??What if the stoomers play 20min??What if the stoomers play for 10min?? What if the stoomers cant play, not even for 1min?? bla bla bla saffa bla bla bla??

  • Schalk - 2012-05-15 12:41

@ Saffa, i agree, thats why we dont play 80 minutes, after 40 we already have the game in the bag and in actual fact we get bored and then dont play in the next 40, i am a massive stormer supporter and i am man enough to say that the Bulls do have a decent team, one that we will really have to try hard if we were to beat them come 2 June, but what bothers me is that they cant say the same, just insults on players, team developments, coach comments etc... - i am a firm believer to give credit where its due...

      Anton - 2012-05-15 13:23

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 13:24

ou @schalki- hoekom dink jy ons BULLE kan ni komplimente gee aan daai sitbok spannetji van julle...wel jy's verkeerd, want ons kan! weepee het 'n mooi platberg waaronder hulle oefen..., di see by weepee stink ni so baie soos by durban ni..., gits, nou kan ek ni meer dink aan nog ni, maar sien, ons kan komplimente gee en hier is hulle,.. ALMAL! so, ons eis 'n verskoning van julle, asb, nou??

      Saffa - 2012-05-15 14:47

@Anton - 'jong outjies' in die Bulls? - Yes you lost a few players......but COUNT the remaining Springboks in your team STILL playing old chap.......These are the Boks you have: Greyling, Kruger, Chili, Flip, Spies, Stegman, Potgieter D then Hougaard, Steyn, Olivier, Kirchner, Ndugane..............Have I left anyone out? Now compare that to the Stormers.......Burger, Bekker, Aplon, de Villiers, de Jongh, Habana......Have I left anyone out? Now stop all this nonsense about a young and inexperienced Bulls team - cos it's utter garbage.

      Stephen - 2012-05-15 15:15

@Saffa, agree - the exaggeration of the so called young team is hilarious

  • Keenan - 2012-05-15 12:43

@Japjapjapjapjap...ek dink ek het sopas my punt bewys...

      Japjapjap - 2012-05-15 18:52

@schalki- dit,... was ni 'n verskoning ni?? jy het so pas my punt bewys,...wat ek nou-nou gaan maak!
