Taute to miss Sharks game

Cape Town - Stormers fullback Jaco Taute will miss this weekend's game against the Sharks after taking a knock to his testicles.

Taute sustained the injury in their 25-17 Super Rugby loss to the Bulls on Friday.

"Jaco is in hospital with a testicle injury and he's been kept there for observation as a precaution," coach Allister Coetzee told SAPA on Monday.

Meanwhile, Prop Pat Cilliers, who left the field against the Bulls after sustaining a knock to the head, should be available for Saturday's trip to Durban. Cilliers showed no symptoms of concussion on Monday but was nevertheless rested from training as a precaution and will take full part in training on Tuesday.

Centre Juan de Jongh (hamstring) trained on Monday - but his chances of playing against the Sharks will depend on how he gets through training on Tuesday.

Scrumhalf Nic Groom (bruised knee) also missed the week's first training session but he will be fine for selection against the Sharks.

The clash at Kings Park kicks off at 19:10 on Saturday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
