Taute nears Stormers return

Cape Town - Stormers utility back Jaco Taute is expected to play a full game for Western Province’s Vodacom Cup side this weekend as he completes his recovery from a knee injury.

The Springbok, who can operate at fullback or centre, made his return to the playing field last weekend when he played 50 minutes for WP in their 27-19 Vodacom Cup win against SWD.

This weekend WP host the Leopards in the quarter-finals at City Park and Taute is expected to play a full game.

The Stormers have a bye in Super Rugby so Taute is expected to join them next week as they prepare to host the Rebels at Newlands on Saturday, May 23.

“Hopefully, after getting 50 minutes for the Vodacom Cup team against SWD on Saturday, Jaco will be able to get 80 minutes for the Western Province team in their quarter-final against the Leopards this coming weekend,” Stormers coach Allister Coetzee told the Stormers’ official website.

“After that extra game time under his belt, Jaco could be available to us after our bye.”
