2012-04-23 12:14

Cape Town - Western Province flank Don Armand and centre Berton Klaasen will fly to Perth on Monday to join up with the injury-hit Stormers touring group.

No 8 Duane Vermeulen and wing Gio Aplon return to Cape Town to have their injuries assessed.

Lock Eben Etzebeth (shoulder) is being managed and a call on his availability will only be made at the Stormers' final training session.

Lock Andries Bekker is however expected to make a return to the team for their final tour match against the Force on Saturday. Kick-off is at 11:40 SA time.

If Etzebeth is not 100% play him from the bench, if need be,Bekker and Steenkamp to lock down together with Elstadt covering lock!!!!

I just hope they give that JP du plessis a run! Very excited to see what he will do at this level!

      Ettiene - 2012-04-23 12:37

howzit lionel , wtf here (aka nitro) must agree with you, Etzebeth must be the find of the season, and i wished he played for my team the bulls. But let him rest this game. Must compliment the Stormers this season they are looking very good, and also it looks like they found what they were missing the last 3 years and that is BMT. Serious title contenders this year

      Lionel - 2012-04-23 12:48

Jean, I would also like to see young Du Plessis get a run, from what we saw in the warm up games this boy can take a gap. @WTF,long time no speak, someone report you again that you had to change the profile hahahahaha That Etzebeth is something else and yes he does need a rest but we need his agression!!!!!

      Ettiene - 2012-04-23 13:02

      yeah lionel the blikskottels!!!!

Why are they needed? There is still enough for a Match 22 that is well balanced?

      Deon - 2012-04-23 12:51

Some players get injured during trainings too, it is a good idea to always have a few back up players.

I think they should fly in some 'Grid Iron' kit from the USA to help their soft bodies as they can't take the punch!

Yes Marko, you are right, we picked up the injuries over there, here we only had soft opposition running around in their pink dresses. That did not prepare us properly.

      Jason - 2012-04-23 14:10

Yeah it must be that........................OH WAIT didnt de Jongh break a guys collar bone in a tackle on Friday???? i think he did. best you revisit your comment!

I agree 100% Etzebeth is really good but lets see how he performs over the next couple of seasons in the S15. He does need a rest at this stage because he will be needed when we progress throughout the S15. WP/Stormers have enough other young talent on there books so lets give these laaities a chance as well. Storm Saam.

      Jean - 2012-04-23 14:56

I have heard so much of Quin Roux, who was apparantly chosen above etzebeth, maybe give a guy like him a run against a team like the force?

According to the "Cagey on Schalk" article...Elstadt, Kolisi and Koster are good to go as the loose trio which wont cause me any sleepless nights. Provided they can last until the final 15 before getting injured all will be well as Im sure these new youngsters will be keen to prove a point. Its perfect to let them start against one of the weaker S15 teams...not a train smash with regards to the next game...Not knowing when Schalk and Duane will be fixed might be though..
