Stormers exodus continues

2012-06-27 15:55

Cape Town - After news broke earlier on Wednesday that 21-year-old Stormers lock Quinn Roux will join Leinster at the conclusion of the Super Rugby tournament, the Western Province Rugby Union announced that more players will leave their setup.

Wing Danie Poolman has been released from his contract and will take up a contract with Connacht in Ireland, while loose forward Pieter Louw, who recently started training with the squad again, has opted not to continue playing rugby given work commitments.

Sport24 was told that Poolman's deal is to possibly qualify as an Irish international in future.

Flyhalf Kurt Coleman has also gone on loan to the SWD Eagles and will get much needed senior game time in the Currie Cup First Division, which starts on Friday.

Coleman will return on July 29 and will be available for Western Province in this year's Currie Cup, which commences August 11.

Shows that it doesnt take much to impress the Vlou Nulle. Although with the team they support I can understand why it doesnt take much to impress.

      lance.elliott.3914 - 2012-06-27 16:45

Harold, not sure about you but if going to build a solid house, I'm not going to buy budget bricks..

A Stormer article and the Vlou Nulle from Moftus come crawling in. Seriously have you inbreds got anything better to do. No broken Ford Escorts to fix in Danville??

      harold.lloyd.520 - 2012-06-27 16:15

We don't have anything better to do. We've been over this. Don't you pay attention?

      harrolld.lloyd - 2012-06-27 20:14

@Stephen dit is Blou Bulle en Loftus... Talking about inbreds.. learn how to spell...and as you know so much about Danville i assume you have family there???

      Tom - 2012-06-27 21:22

i would also leave. most of these players are falling asleep on the field all they get to do is stand and watch kicks at goal. imagine playing for a team where the only objective is to win penalties in front of the sticks. zzzzzzzzzzzz

      ChrisinOz294 - 2012-06-28 07:18

@Tom. As opposed to players keeping wide awake when their kicker aims at goal just hoping and praying he does not miss another one.

      lance.elliott.3914 - 2012-06-27 16:50

Like a stuck record I will say..he has the highset kicking rate in the S15 at 96%. Morne was 4th last I heard..

      WernerZA - 2012-06-27 17:02

Yes, missed 4... The only 4 that was further than 25m from the posts and slightly off center. He has a weak boot (do yourself a favor and watch his play, not just his shirt design), and as such is not effective if you are trying to keep the opposition pinned back in their half. Just get over it, he is not bok material. Everyone else sees it except if you happen to support the stormers... O, yes, morne's form is not good. There I said it, but, people go through slumps and he will come back to silence the inevitable noise from Mitchell's plein...

      harold.lloyd.520 - 2012-06-27 17:10

      All from right in front.

      Tom - 2012-06-27 21:17

      wernerZA classic what a legend

      hvanderlinde - 2012-06-28 12:17

Lance, Morne is 5th 1. Grant 2. Goosen 3. Jantjies 4. Lambie 5. Steyn Shocking but true, the very reason he has been first choice pivot all these years is the one thing he's not doing well at all at the moment. The bulls will realise how average he is soon enough, but by then they'll be out of the competition

  • gordon.wolfaardt - 2012-06-27 17:11

Nee hel kyk, ek ondersteun die manne wat so oorgaan..... eerder oorsee as om vir die pienk bulletjies te gaan speel

      hc12345 - 2012-06-27 18:01

At least the bulls are doing something for cancer, unlike the Stromers who forever complain about not getting enough money.

      Tom - 2012-06-27 21:19

      nice comment hc12345

      Jaco - 2012-06-28 10:06

Whats with all the hate??? Hc... did you see the Stormers pink arm bands when they played you guys? To my mind they are the only team to have shown support for the Bulls Cancer campaign.

  • julian.leverton.9 - 2012-06-27 17:14

These are hardly terrible losses. Roux will be coming back next year anyway, as will Coleman, and no offense to Louw, but he is hardly a first choice at his time in life. Still, the number of SA players leaving to play elsewhere is concerning, but I guess it's just a matter of game time and money.

And the stars of the young boks go to Bulls. When will it ever dawn on the WP camp that its rigid and one dimensional approach will never make them champions. Up there yes, but never champions. Jean and Habana back as stars again undeR HM. Is it not time you seriously consider the negative impact of Alistair the coach

      Tom - 2012-06-27 21:20

herman vermaak i love this comment. look at HM how he got pietersen and habana back into form. HM - i have a man crush on him

  • ChrisinOz294 - 2012-06-27 23:04

Typical comments from the Pink Pansies that just scan around news24 for articles about the Stormers to get some attention. Pretty lonely in Fairy Land or what? To be honest this article is about two players, on contract, who has not really been part of the Stormers matchday team plus one guy retiring (who has been injured in any case). They have not been able to crack the run-on team. I haven't even heard of Quin Roux. So I would say it makes business sense to let them go - nothing about house of cards collapsing. Something the Pienk Pansies should have done with Meisiekind Olivier - he could have played for some B-grade club in Romania by now.

      Delport - 2012-06-28 10:20

Christo I support you 100%. Does not matter Bulls or Stormers the same principle apply. There 90 clubs in WP for example. You will never accomodate every player even he is very good. Their life span is 12 years to earn money and save if they are lucky. Can anyone tell me % wise how many Springbok rugbyplayers from 1995 up to know are finacially successfull and total independant. Yes certain players went to play for Japan for millions at the end of their career and makes a lot of money. They can retire without any worries. If a youngster ( 22 to 23 years old) played good rugby in SA and cannot play for the Boks for what ever reason and he can earn in three years R4 million rand or more, excluding bonusses and game money ( while he is styuding) for example at a Irish club, with a option to play for the country....who will say no? You will see the world at no cost, do what you love to doe ...playing rugby, study, earning good money and have a wonderful time. That is what I call an opportunity thousand and it comes only at a lifetime at that age.

Tree Christene so op? Sal julle dit mekaar in die gesig se as julle mekaar ontmoet? Vra maar net....onthou "you can ran away but you cannot hide".
