Cape Town - Bulls flyhalf Morné Steyn is set to become only the third player to amass 1 000 Super Rugby points, but admits it wasn't high on his agenda.
In fact, the 27-year-old Springbok pivot told the Beeld newspaper that achieving 100 caps was actually more of a goal when he started playing for the Bulls. He currently has 90 caps.
The Bulls take on the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday and Steyn, currently on 991 Super Rugby points, will have a good chance to reach the new landmark. Dan Carter leads the points tally with 1 272, with Stirling Mortlock second on 1 031.
"I only heard about it this week, so it wasn't very high on my agenda.
"But it's good to know and I'd like to get it there in Bloemfontein because it's my parents' hometown," said Steyn.
The Bulls made one enforced change to their side to take on the Cheetahs. Springbok Wynand Olivier replaces the injured Johann Sadie at outside center.
