Stegmann the only unfit Bull

2012-06-26 07:43

Cape Town - Flank Deon Stegmann is the only Bulls player who cannot be considered for their Super Rugby clash against the Cheetahs at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday.

Team doctor Org Strauss told Beeld that Stegmann, who broke his arm earlier in the season, should come into consideration for next week's match against the Sharks in Durban.

Springbok fullback Zane Kirchner, who missed the last two Tests against England with a knee injury, is fit again and will be in contention for selection this week.

Prop Frik Kirsten, who struggled with a hand injury, should also be ready to tackle the Cheetahs.

The Bulls' returning Springboks did not practice on Monday but will hit the ground running on Tuesday.

The team will be eager to get back to winning ways after three successive losses against the Highlanders, Chiefs and Stormers.

They are currently fifth on the overall log and second in the South African conference with 49 points.

The clash at Loftus kicks off at 19:10 on Saturday.

Vrystaaaaaat:):):) Morning All Back from a wonderful trip to PE.One really has to feel for the people of PE,they are starved for decent rugby. The way they organised the Bok test was excellent from the smallest thing to the biggest,a massive thumbs up from me and my pals. Ps.Boooing not only happens in Cape Town:):):)

      Harold - 2012-06-26 08:00

It's funny that you only hear it on TV when it's at Newlands. (Or when a Bulls flyhalf miss a couple of kicks). Morning Lionel.

      Tom - 2012-06-26 08:10

If I was friends with cape town and pe on Facebook I would unfriend them

      René - 2012-06-26 08:45

Morning @Lionel, it seems PE has lost it status as being the 'Friendly City', the new status is now the 'Arm Pit of SA' - very poor behaviour indeed. Another bad incident was the 'booing' of the Haka at Newlands on Friday night's game. It is really a bad reflection on sport - I don't like it.

      Jed - 2012-06-26 08:46

a couple of missed kicks, some pointless kicks, a charged down kick which led to a try, and a couple of wayward drop kicks, besides that he had a Great game.

      lionel.kemm.9 - 2012-06-26 08:59

@Rene,morning,probably Bulls fans that came down for the Yeah I agree with you,I don't like it myself, every stadium has its issues with booing and its wrong, finished and klaar. Was it not great to see the Baby Boks win that cup???

      René - 2012-06-26 09:06

@Lionel, booing at Loftus is prohibited - Bulls not guilty!! :):) Very chuffed with the young Bokkies - loved the driving mauls, scrums etc, they sure made us proud. The baby Ferns (to use Cape.Maori's logic) did not have an answer for that.

      lionel.kemm.9 - 2012-06-26 09:13

A certain incident with Percy Montgomery at Loftus about booing comes to

      René - 2012-06-26 09:18

Very true Lionel but that was way back, I think the last two years the 'no booing rule' has been implemented with a great deal of success.

      marius.olivier.7 - 2012-06-26 09:47

Thanks Lionel. it was great meeting you and your pals here in PE . I can still remember how the two of us criticised each other's comments a few months ago on this forum, but it showed on Saturday that most of us commenting here are all just rugby supporters who are passionate about our teams, irrespective of where we live and we are all up to it for a good party. Thanks for the fun in the beergarden before the game. Just a pity the game didn't match our festivities.

      lionel.kemm.9 - 2012-06-26 09:57

Hey Marius, thanks again for a great time, whenever you are in Cape Town give us a shout.

      jason.children - 2012-06-26 10:06

Morning Lionel welcome back mate! Glad you had fun! everyone knows my stance on Booing and it happens everywhere! @Rene I have heard more than a fair share of booing at Loftus! Just take the last Stormers Bulls game...............plenty Booing when the Stormers took the field! I didnt mind it so much but i really hate it when it happens at my home stadium, we all hold our own teams to a higher standard! Lokking forward to kicking off the Super Rugby part 2! Looks like AC will rest most of the Boks on the bench or off it! Not a bad idea! Some of the fringe Stormers will bring big efforts to try and force their way into the team permanently! Hope the Rain Stays away! Bulls to the Cheetahs will be tough, I think most of the Boks will be selected as the Bulls cant afford to lose any games! Great weekend coming up, best of luck to all the teams and hopefully all the players get through injury free. Stormers 4 Life!

      lionel.kemm.9 - 2012-06-26 10:09

Hey Jason,Thanks Boet Ja it really does suck big time. Ps:Black was not the right call at the casino Sat morning hahahaha By the way nice pic:):):)

Here comes another improbable bulls fightback to be crowned champs

      Koos - 2012-06-26 07:59

      Yip, as expected.

      Harold - 2012-06-26 08:01

      You better believe it.

      hvanderlinde - 2012-06-26 08:04

      hahaha yeah right

      lionel.kemm.9 - 2012-06-26 08:08

Not if you continue with Steyns great kicking game.

      Harold - 2012-06-26 08:11

Who needs Viagra, Tom? Supporting a team like the Bulls.

      Tom - 2012-06-26 08:13

Just watch us Lionel, we dig deep when it's necessary not crumble when we are at the finish line

      Tom - 2012-06-26 08:14

      Blue bulls jerseys

      lionel.kemm.9 - 2012-06-26 08:16

Like you dug deep against us twice this year

      dawiej - 2012-06-26 08:23

      Tom, having wet dreams again?

      Tom - 2012-06-26 08:23

Luckily e bulls are rebuilding after the core group retired or moved overseas. To still be in with a shout, good enou for me. Unfortunately the stormers can't do any better than they are doing and they still won't win the whole thing. Give this bulls team a year and e domination will be epic. The stormers are going to need to change something to win semis and finals because that's where the digging deep really matters. I will be shouting for whoever plays against them

      Tom - 2012-06-26 08:25

Typing on an iPad is as terrible as watching a stormers snorefest

      Jed - 2012-06-26 08:52

Tom , Bulls are kuk deal with it.

      John - 2012-06-26 08:53

Hey Tom ! quick question - has the pink strip got anything to do with you getting a "woody"? waaaaahahahahaha You and ol Harry make the perfect match Dumb & Dumber.

      Andre Kritzinger - 2012-06-26 11:11

      Dream on...

      john.edwards.733450 - 2012-06-27 01:36

Lionel , a penalty in the 1st one and some individual brilliance scoring against the flow in the second one ? Not very convincing wins. Bulls looked the slightly stronger team in both those games . .. thought-terminating cliche anyone ?

  • dawiej - 2012-06-26 08:22

A shame, doesnt matter, bulls gonna loose anyway.... Go Vrystaaaaaaaat

      Tom - 2012-06-26 08:24

The wrestling match with english is still being lost Lose not loose. Idiot

      Raymond - 2012-06-26 08:40

      Lose, not loose. Idiot. (Tom):)

      Crapdetector - 2012-06-26 09:31

Under performing pink bulls are going to get a hiding from a fresh Cheetah team.

      niel.walt - 2012-06-26 10:35

As much I love the cheetahs I think u uys r going a bit overboard lol

  • Boereroo - 2012-06-26 08:29

Maybe stegman - when he's fit again - is a better bet than that Potgieter bloke that runs around like a headless chicken and achieves very little. He should probably look for a rugby league club where running into the nearest bloke as hard as you can is the common tactic. Please don't select him for the Boks again HM.

      Tom - 2012-06-26 08:37

      I agree can't stand potgieter

      Harold - 2012-06-26 09:01

      Like Duane Vermeulen?

      Boereroo - 2012-06-26 09:10

No Harold, anyone that can actually see the space between the players will do. Much like we can spot the space between your ears. If that happens to be DV then so be it.

      Harold - 2012-06-26 09:38

Duane can only spot the tattoo on his hand. The one of the arrow with the underwriting that says: 'Run this way'.

  • facts.peter - 2012-06-26 08:29

@Harold... So you guys get erections when the Bull team plays. Now that must be scary for normal men walking around at Loftus! I can continue making it ugly but let's keep it funny.

      John - 2012-06-26 08:57

It's bizarre to be quite honest.

      Harold - 2012-06-26 09:02

No fatcs, please continue making it ugly.

      Jed - 2012-06-26 09:08

facts, since you where so nice in pointing out my mistakes.

      facts.peter - 2012-06-26 09:34

@ Harold. It's really not necessary. I don't live a bitter life filled with stupidity. I still think you’re and Tom's comments were extremely funny. You only shot yourself in the foot with it; it's not the end of the world. I won't respond to you again because then it is not funny anymore. Have a great day.

  • juan.nel.184 - 2012-06-26 08:36

Go Bulle! Morne please show the country (I mean the Stormers and the PE Kings) how good you really are.

      ruhan.vandermerwe - 2012-06-26 08:49

      EP Kings

      René - 2012-06-26 08:52

@juan, nothing will make me happier but MS has been having an up/down showing this season. My take, after his first miss he should be replaced immediately with Louis Fouche, (coaching staff must discuss this with him)... All the games we have lost this season so far was because of missed kicks. I hate blaming an individual (team sport) but his job, amongst other things, to kick penalties/convert tries. MS is one of my favourite players and a great guy, I'm sure he will 'be back'

      Harold - 2012-06-26 09:03

René, like a wise man said a couple of days ago: Class is permanent. Wait! That was me.

      Raymond - 2012-06-26 09:04

      I hope not.

      René - 2012-06-26 09:14

@Harold, I sincerely hope he regains that 'Class' sooner than later, the time in fact is NOW!!! @Air, say what? You don't want the Springbok F/H to regain form?? Which side of your brain was doing the 'thinking' part?

  • japjapjap.wat - 2012-06-26 09:16

  • ronnie.duplessis.7 - 2012-06-26 09:33

You have to look at the cause why he played so poorly on the weekend, and the first reason for this is that we played the wrong game plan. I put the whole debacle at the feet of the coach. Combine this with playing with only 14 men although there were 15 on the field as Piere Spies once again showed why he is the most over rated player ever to play the game. Morne is a front foot player and in the 2nd test we were on the front foot in the 1st and 3rd tests we were on the back foot because of kicking the little possession we had right back to England. When you play a game plan like Saturday you need your forwards to dominate and this never materialized, with no eighth man in place Hougard was under pressure and in turn that put Steyn under pressure. Steyn missing didn’t help and he needs to feel the prssure, but we should be scoring tries and not relying on our kicker to win us games.
