Smit lauds 'angry' Stormers

Cape Town – Prominent South African rugby personalities have interrupted their Easter break to hail, via Twitter, the Stormers’ triumph over the Highlanders in their first Super Rugby tour match on Saturday.

The Capetonians put aside the effects of their gruelling travel to Dunedin and last week’s exertions against the Bulls to record a 21-6 victory in Dunedin, after a much-touted meeting of the best-performing sides in the South African and New Zealand conferences respectively.

With six wins from six, the Stormers remain the only unbeaten team in the competition.

Former Springbok captain and Sharks favourite John Smit enthused: “Great performance & victory by the Stormers; they are playing some good rugga and that pack looks nice and angry! Well done @BryanHabana & co.”

Meanwhile another former Bok leader and also once captain of the Stormers, Bob Skinstad, tweeted: “Sjoe -- @joepietersen & @BryanHabana were superstars. Stormers defended like warriors. Very proud.”

And retired Bok wing and Lions stalwart Ashwin Willemse, now a regular SuperSport critic, said (in a tweet to Bok loose forward legend Rob Louw): “Great performance by your surf partner @joepietersen. Well done Stormers. Congrats to Toetie (coach Allister Coetzee) and his coaching staff.”
