Stormers end Canberra jinx

Cape Town - The Stormers have recorded their first ever win over the Brumbies at Canberra Stadium in a scrappy Vodacom Super Rugby clash to keep their title chances on track on Saturday.

The Stormers won 16-3 after leading 6-3 at half-time.

The Stormers scored the only try of the match through flank Francois Louw. Flyhalf Kurt Coleman was on target with the conversion and two penalties, while fullback Gio Aplon also kicked a penalty.

The Brumbies, who suffered a late blow when flyhalf Matt Giteau was forced to withdraw with an injury, replied with a penalty by centre Christian Lealiifano.

The Stormers picked up four points for their victory to strengthen their lead atop the South African Conference and third position in the overall standings.

The Brumbies left empty-handed, and stayed fourth and 13th in the Australia Conference and overall log respectively.

In next weekend's Round 16 action, the Stormers travel to Melbourne to face the Rebels, while the Brumbies visit Brisbane to take on the high-flying Reds.
