Saracens hooker at Stormers

2011-03-07 21:00

Cape Town - Ex Lions and current Saracens hooker Ethienne Reyneke trained with the DHL Stormers on Monday.

Reyneke, who joined Saracens at the end of the 2009/2010 season, is in Cape Town on loan for Tiaan Liebenberg who was injured in a pre-season friendly with Boland.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee confirmed he wanted to see Reyneke in the Vodacom Cup before potentially pulling him into the Stormers Super Rugby squad.

Deon Fourie has been the starting hooker for the Stormers’ opening Super Rugby games of the season.

The Stormers face early season surprise pace-setters, The Highlanders, at Newlands on Friday night.

What about Niel de Koch? Can't be slower than Ricky.

      Daniel de Kock - 2011-03-07 21:31

Neil de Kock? Stormers can't afford him. He is captain at Saracens and making plenty mulla there. Saracens won't release him either as he is a key player in their outfit.

      Johnny - 2011-03-08 08:36

....Niel de Kock is to "white"... ......He he he he he...!!!

      Kaapie - 2011-03-08 09:34

What Niel gonna ply hooker?? Plenty of good scrummies in the Cape. Problem is the eyes that watch them(selectors) are too one eyed

  • Glennm - 2011-03-07 21:55

Stick with Deon Fourie...a springbok in the making...

      The_Fox - 2011-03-08 07:50

Deon is not bad at all, just whish he was more of a physical player like Tiaan. Luckily his lineout throws improved from the first week..

  • Stephen - 2011-03-07 22:15

Really rate this dude. Plenty of skills although perhaps too much like Fourie. Still, better than the current replacement who appears to still need another year or two to fill out

  • Pappa Smurf - 2011-03-08 02:52

    Stormers suck!!!!!

      Stormer4eva - 2011-03-08 06:57

I am so glad you bunch think so , shows how scared you are !

      Kim - 2011-03-08 07:09

Do you get a boner from making comments like that ?

      Alwyn - 2011-03-08 07:22

no he actualy explains that the Stormers suck big time with their has beens, o and now getting players on loan to fill the gaps, show that they dont have any depth

      Jean - 2011-03-08 07:36

Flippet man! Ekt gister so geniet! Hier gan ons weer! GO STORMERS!!!

      richard.vonschumann - 2011-03-08 07:58

By the way the Stormers are unbeaten and the bulls lost over the weekend. So who sucks now :-)

      The_Fox - 2011-03-08 08:00

Pappa "Sniff" - Is dit jy Joost?

      Johnny - 2011-03-08 08:35

.....agree, .....stormers and supporters are papsak suckers...!!!!

      MrMojoRising - 2011-03-08 09:20

Alwyn, how the hell can the Stormers have has beens? Look at the Bulls team, now they're full of has beens. By the way, who will be hooker for the Bulls if Chilliboy is also injured?

      Alwyn - 2011-03-08 10:14

Ever heard of Derick Kuhn? No,,,, well he used to play hooker for the Bulls before and with great success,This weekend you will see how many has beens the Stormers have when they play the Highlanders,They deserved their win over the Bulls ,but the same fate is awaiting the Stormers this weekend

      chrisholtshausen - 2011-03-08 15:01

@Alwyn: Who is Derrick Kuun?!!! Are real rugby-supporters suppose to know him?

  • The_Fox - 2011-03-08 07:47

Good call to bring him in. He can fill Tiaan's place for the next month or so until he is fit again.

  • RJ - 2011-03-08 07:52

Great man... Don't know this dude but things are looking better and better....

      The_Fox - 2011-03-08 08:01

Ja, not too bad a player, good thing that he has to play VCup first to prove his worth..

  • The_Fox - 2011-03-08 07:56

If AC can just get Lionel in at 15 (Jantjes is way too slow and predictable, almost as bad as Zef Zane) and let Duvenhage start at 9 I will be a happy man. Perhaps also switch JDV to wing (I know he is not the best wing but he has been very "de Wet Barry"- like recently - crash ball) in place of Poolman with JDJ @12 and JF @13. O ja, en drop CJ to the bench and bring Blaauw back into the mix.

      The_Fox - 2011-03-08 08:03

O ja, seeing that Aplon will be fit for this week perhaps he could warm the bench and relegate Jantjes to the Vcup.

      Hanjo - 2011-03-08 08:42

agree with all your changes, not sure about JdV though, he does seem one dimensional in attack, I am not a huge fan of having JdJ at 12, I feel he's an outside centre, but it's worth trying, Jantjies was average even before his injury...I feel if Aplon is match fit, we should have him at fullback instead of Cronje.

  • RJ - 2011-03-08 08:27

I think the stormers are going to give us something to cheer about this week... Imagine How the bulls will watch this game when we comprehensively win Otago the bulls will piss in thr pants at the thought of loosing to the mountain goats in 2 weeks time HAHAHA Well hey it has to be done, also need to shut up those big mouths from Durban....Dis a Stomers ding.

      Alwyn - 2011-03-08 08:46

Victor and he's guy's can work and execution...Thr attack was outstanding but thr defence was not up to standard at this level... Good luck may you work very hard for you 4 points this week.

      Alwyn - 2011-03-08 10:19

  • Kaapie - 2011-03-08 09:33

Ntubeni is not bad at all. when he came on against the Lions for a short while. If the Reds can play James Slipper then the Stormers can blood younger players as well. Lets not be like the Bulls with a lot of ou toppies
