SBW v De Allende duel excites Chiefs

Cape Town - Chiefs captain Liam Messam says he is looking forward to witnessing the midfield duel between Sonny Bill Williams and the Stormers' Damian de Allende.

The two midfield giants are set for an enthralling battle when the two teams clash in a Super Rugby encounter at Newlands on Saturday.

"The Stormers have more than just a good pack. Their inside centre (De Allende) is strong on his feet, big and gets them over the advantage line in an efficient manner," Messam told Netwerk24.

"(But) we also have a big inside centre in Sonny Bill, so hopefully they'll meet each other on the gain line."

Messam, who boast 42 Tests for the All Blacks, is also relishing his personal duel with Springbok No 8 Duane Vermeulen.

"I always look forward to playing against big Duane. He is one of the best No 8s in the world. It's also nice to see Schalk Burger run around again after his injury struggles."

Saturday's clash at Newlands kicks off at 15:00.
