Rhodes to finally face the music

Cape Town - Western Province and Stormers forward Michael Rhodes will appear before a South African Rugby Union (SARU) judicial committee on Thursday for a dangerous tackle in last year's Currie Cup final against the Cell C Sharks at Newlands.

The disciplinary hearing was initially set to take place in the week following the match, but had to be rescheduled twice, resulting in a postponement until January.

Rhodes was cited for a dangerous tackle in the second half of the Currie Cup final when he placed his arm around Sharks hooker Bismarck du Plessis’ neck in a maul and maintained his grip for a few seconds. This was in breach of law 10.4 (e) relating to dangerous tackling.

The hearing will take place in Cape Town on Thursday at 10:00.

Adv Donny Jacobs will serve as the Judicial Officer.
