Cape Town - South African-born lock Marco Kotze will make his Super Rugby debut for the Reds against the Brumbies in Canberra on Friday.
The 28-year-old represented the Golden Lions and Sharks at age-group and Vodacom Cup levels. He then joined the Falcons before moving to Australia two years ago, when Jake White brought him to the Brumbies. He featured heavily Brisbane City in their victorious National Rugby Championship campaign last year, which earned him a Reds call-up.
The Reds match-day squad features Lachie Turner returning from injury to play his first game in 2015 and scrumhalf Will Genia playing his 100th Super Rugby game, after already earning his 100th cap for Queensland in 2014.
According to the Reds’ official website, seven players stand to make their Super Rugby debut for Queensland.
On debut in the starting lineup are Kotze, prop Sam Talakai, and flyhalf Karmichael Hunt, along with prop Sef Faagase, flank Adam Korczyk, flyhalf Duncan Paia’aua and wing Campbell Magnay on the bench.
Kick-off for Friday’s clash at Canberra Stadium is scheduled for 10:40 (SA time).
