Cape Town - One of the biggest contracts in the history of Cheetahs rugby was not enough to keep Springbok flyhalf Johan Goosen in Bloemfontein.
The Cheetahs tried their best to keep the Springbok flyhalf but it appears he will leave to further his career at French club, Racing Metro.
The RMC Sport website on Thursday reported that the 21-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Paris-based club.
Racing are expected to officially announce the signing next Monday.
It is believed that Goosen's decision to move was made easier by a massive offer from the French club.
The Volksblad website reports that during his 36 months in Paris, Goosen will earn up to R7m more than what his salary increase at the Cheetahs would have been.
Goosen's contract with the Cheetahs expires on October 31 this year but he could be released earlier.
At Racing, Goosen will compete with Irish flyhalf Jonathan Sexton, who has played for the team since 2013.
