Pretoria - Springbok Dewald Potgieter’s return to the Vodacom Bulls has been delayed by “technical difficulties” but the team are confident he will be able to take the field for them soon.
According to the supersport.com website, Potgieter is on the verge of rejoining the team after leaving for Japan last year, and it was expected he would be named in the starting line-up to face the Blues this weekend.
By the time the team was finalised on Tuesday, the “technical matters” had not been sorted out - apparently assurances about Potgieter’s injury insurance and who would cover what while he plays for the Bulls.
Coach Frans Ludeke said he was not worried as Potgieter would “play a part in the competition.”
“Dewald’s return was defused due to the small technical things that needed to be sorted out. But we back the programme and players, we know he will play a role in the competition.
“The same goes for Wimpie (van der Walt), who joined us this week. We have picked up a few injuries, so you never know. Especially in the loose forwards, which forced our hand to get some of the players in. Only time will tell how quickly they will join the side and hopefully make a difference.”
Ludeke said he was confident the problems would be sorted out by next week.
“We have a bye, so we have time on hands. We are confident we can sort everything out.”
Van der Walt has been named in the Vodacom Cup side to face Griquas in their opening round fixture at Loftus on Saturday.
