Naka targets Stormers lineout

Cape Town - Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské's message to his players this week was simple: Keep the pressure on the suspect Stormers lineout.

The Cape side had a torrid time in that department during their 19-14 weekend loss to the Crusaders last week, losing possession on their own throw-in no less than eight times.

Hooker Deon Fourie was the main culprit, as he struggled to find his jumpers at crucial times during the encounter at Newlands.

The Stormers also struggled in earlier games this season, losing six of their own lineouts against the Bulls and three against the Sharks.

The Cheetahs lineout has shown marked improvement this season, with locks Lood de Jager and Francois Uys well rotated as jumpers with loosies Lappies Labuschagné and Philip van der Walt.

According to the Volksblad website, Drotské made no secret of the fact that he wants his players to pile on the pressure in that department.

"Over the last few weeks we worked extra hard at our competitiveness in the lineouts," said Drotské.

"We did especially well in the second half against the Rebels.

"It is very important to pile the pressure on the Stormers lineout on Saturday.

"We had another lineout session today (Wednesday) and will also have a look at what they do on Friday.

"Hopefully we can put them under pressure in that department."

The clash at the Free State Stadium kicks off at 17:05 on Saturday.
