Muliaina out for the season

Cape Town - The defending champion Chiefs have lost utility back Mils Muliaina for the remainder of the Super Rugby season.

According to the TVNZ website, the 100-Test capped All Black has succumbed to an elbow injury he aggravated in their round two match against the Crusaders in February.

The 33-year-old has struggled with the injury since returning from a two-season stint in Japan. He had hoped to delay surgery on the joint until the end of the season, but will now have an operation next Thursday.

The Chiefs host the Crusaders in Hamilton on Saturday (kick-off 09:35 SA time).
