Muliaina misses SA's braais

Cape Town - All Black and Chiefs veteran Mils Muliaina is looking forward to the South African leg of their Super Rugby campaign.

The 100-capped All Black spent the past two years playing club rugby in Japan but is now back for the two-time defending champions.

The Chiefs on Monday announced a 27-man squad to travel to Perth and South Africa. They will play three matches on tour against the Western Force, Bulls and the Cheetahs.

The former All Black fullback said one of the things he missed while playing in Japan was the trips to South Africa.

"When I was here last time it sort of started to die out there, the excitement of it. But being back now and knowing how fun it actually can be and to regroup is certainly something that's exciting at the moment," Muliaina told the Radio Sport website.

"I miss the people, they're really passionate people over there. The barbeques, the 'braais' as they call them over there. I miss the travel in terms of being amongst 30-odd players and just being in a team environment for a few weeks."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
