McCalman out for two weeks

Perth - In-form Force forward Ben McCalman was on Tuesday suspended for two weeks for a dangerous lifting tackle on Highlanders prop Kane Hames, ruining his birthday celebrations.

McCalman, who turned 26 on Tuesday, pleaded guilty to the charge after being yellow carded during the match last Friday in Dunedin, which the Force won 31-29.

With the Force having a bye next up, the Wallaby will only miss one game, returning for the April 5 clash with the Reds in Brisbane.

"I considered that the potential for harm was significant as the tackled player was lifted high off the ground and tipped forcefully with no attempt to arrest or mitigate his fall," said Nicholas Davidson, a judicial officer with South African, New Zealand and Australian Rugby (SANZAR).
