Allardice's yellow card looked to have put them in a precarious position, but a try front Lowe and a conversion and penalty from McKenzie sealed the game in the second half. Goosen grabbed a late try for the hosts, which Jordie Barrett converted, but it came too late for the win - albeit not the bonus point.

The Hurricanes attack comes to nothing and the Chiefs kick deep. Jordie Barrett tries to run it back, but Cane gets the tackle in and the full-back is penalised for failing to release.

The Chiefs break through Lienert-Brown, who goes all the way into the Hurricanes' 22 before being dragged down.
Lousi steals the ball from the lineout and the Hurricanes go left, but Savea is dragged into touch with some superb last-ditch defending from the Chiefs.
The Hurricanes hit the Chiefs on the attack again. Jordie Barrett tries to set up Apisai with a cross-kick, but it goes into touch near the Chiefs' five-metre line.

HALF-TIME: HURRICANES 7-7 CHIEFS. There is nothing to separate the two sides going into the break. The Hurricanes started off well with Fifita getting an early try, but the Chiefs have been in the ascendancy since and scored one of their own through Cruden. Full-backs McKenzie and Barrett have a conversion apiece. The second half at the Westpac Stadium looks set to be an epic battle.
The second half is underway. Stevenson has replaced Cruden, who took a knock to the knee.
Lousi picks and goes from a ruck and sets up Perenara who goes on a dangerous run, but Eves just fails to hold onto the scrum-half''s offload.

When these two sides met earlier in the season, the Chiefs won 26-18 in Hamilton. However, with both sides playing their second last fixture today, the Hurricanes sit second in the New Zealand conference and the Chiefs are four points behind in third.
The Hurricanes have scored 83 tries so far this season, breaking the previous Super Rugby record of 81 tries scored by the Lions in 2016.
