2012-03-09 13:20

Johannesburg - The Lions suffered further injuries ahead of their Super Rugby clash against the Sharks in Durban on Saturday.

Flyhalf Elton Jantjies was a late withdrawal due to a foot injury as was Patric Cilliers with a stomach bug.

Other players already on the injury list include: JC Janse van Rensburg (toe), CJ van der Linde (groin), Wikus van Heerden (concussion), Bandise Maku (shoulder), Dylan des Fountain (knee), Michael Rhodes (knee) and Lionel Mapoe (hamstring).

Caylib Oosthuizen and Alwyn Hollenbach have been moved into the starting line up with Ruan Dreyer and Andries Coetzee being called up to the bench. With Hollenbach being moved into the starting XV, Butch James could start the game at flyhalf in the absence of Jantjies.

I can't see the Lions winning this game now............you still have my support though!!!!!!!

      Paul - 2012-03-09 14:51

Now the boys can just go out and play. All the pressure is on the Guppies. Imagine the egg on their faces if they lose to our B team. Got a sneaky feeling about this one...

      Gerald - 2012-03-09 15:32

@Paul - But the Sharks have been fielding a B team since the start of the S15

      David - 2012-03-09 16:01

Apparently the Lions can beat anyone now...except the Hurricanes.

  • Clive - 2012-03-09 13:33

never say never it is times like this that they shine GO Lions!

  • Chris - 2012-03-09 13:37

Elton Jantjies is a massive loss for that team, good news for my Sharks.

  • David - 2012-03-09 13:47

If Lions weren't gonna win before, they certainly won't win now. If we don't beat the Lions now...

      Paul - 2012-03-09 14:53

      Then what?

      David - 2012-03-09 15:26

then we in deep crap, thought it was obvious enough to figure out

  • heinrich.beukes1 - 2012-03-09 13:52

It is times like this where the Lions can be happy they have Butch James in the side. I don't like the guy too much but atleast he has experience. Jaco Taute can also kick I am just not sure if he can kick at an angle.

  • Mike - 2012-03-09 13:54

Put my SuperBru pick in to early

  • Vernon - 2012-03-09 13:54

let hear the excuses now for the Lions getting a whipping tomorrow .... 2 down , 15 to go (losses in a row)

      Nico - 2012-03-09 14:07

hahaha vernon, u mean u got two losses down? LIONS already won a game this year :) and we will win tomorrow as well :)

      heinrich.beukes1 - 2012-03-09 14:12

we don't make excuses Vernon we are man enough to accept that we lost, and atleast we don't loose 88-0 hahahaha

      PieterJ100 - 2012-03-09 14:13

Funny, Vernon cant read...go look at all the comments..not one lions supporter was going for an excuse just support....

      Jan - 2012-03-09 14:14

Vernon you are clearly a Kings supporter. The Lions will win the Kings strongest team with their C team by a Cricket score!

      Danny - 2012-03-09 17:25

@Vernon - looks like you're a Liverpool fan. Your boys would know a lot about excuses for losing...

      ckrohne1 - 2012-03-09 18:29

lol......dit is net soos jy daar se..

      Kevin - 2012-03-09 19:59

They will do well in the vodacom cup next year

  • S - 2012-03-09 14:07

The Lions have Joshua and Caleb on their side - maybe they will infiltrate and slay the mighty Canaanites, errr... Durbanites.

      Paul - 2012-03-09 14:47

      Nice one Stirrer!

  • Riaan - 2012-03-09 14:24

    Sharks game to lose ...

  • deonk - 2012-03-09 14:26

Sharks supporters are very smug about tomorow... just like the Bulls fans you hate so much. Check yourselves!

      Nico - 2012-03-09 14:29

@deonk, sounds almost a bit like the week before the CC final last year, where the sharkies told us how we going to whip the LIONS because they got their boks back, then after the final they complained that they lost because they got their boks back, hahahahahahahahahaha

  • Gerald - 2012-03-09 15:38

It's strange how, year-in and year-out when the Lions were fighting for the wooden spoon in Super rugby, you hardly heard a peep from their supporters on this forum. Now that they happened to win the CC, they think they are God's gift to rugby

      heinrich.beukes1 - 2012-03-09 15:47

Well atleast we haven't made excuses all those years like some other provinces I know

      Juan - 2012-03-09 16:03

Come now lads. Rugby is rugby and we are going to get some stick from one another. Lets hope it's a great game and I hope the sharks pull this one off. We have a quality side and should be around the top of the log. Lions based on last year should currently be on top of the log. something is wrong there, cause they should have just carried over the momentum. I don't see the same hunger in Joshua and Co's eyes as what I saw in the CC final.

      heinrich.beukes1 - 2012-03-09 16:22

Juan you are right actually and I am a lions supporter. My GF who doesn't know much about rugby told me with the first game "this guys don't seem like they want to play" I realised that she was right. The hunger needs to come back.

      Lion - 2012-03-10 02:36

@Gerald Don't get stupid here. We as Lion supporters stick with our team. No matter what. I have been a Lion supporter for over 30 years now and I am proud of them. Off course you are going to hear from us when we have bragging rights to a trophy. And for your information the CC last year was through hard work and dedication. Our players did it for us and off course we are going to brag about them you twat. If we end up having the wooden spoon there is obviously nothing to brag about and that is why we stay quiet then. We give credit where credit is due. Gerald = Plank

  • Gregory - 2012-03-09 16:12

Whenever people dont give Butch James a snowballs chance in hell...thats when he is at his best... watch this space....

  • ckrohne1 - 2012-03-09 18:28

  • Gerhard Grobler - 2012-03-09 20:47

    LoL!!!

  • Tyrone - 2012-03-10 08:46

hardly a "b" team that.here we go lions here we go!!!

  • Marius Roodt - 2012-03-10 11:26

Reading the comments, all I see is a lot useless mindless banter. Anybody see what I see? A real test for Lambie at 10... James is a talented, experienced very physical player at 10. Can't wait to see how Lambie shapes up to the challenge....
