Cape Town - The Lions have managed to secure the services of former Cheetahs lock Andries Ferreira.

According to Rugby365, Ferreira has signed a two-year contract after recently returning from a stint in Italy at Pro12 side Zebre.

Ferreira, 24, played 20 Super Rugby matches for the Cheetahs between 2012 and 2014. He will join his new team with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, the Lions also confirmed that lock JP du Preez and centre Harold Vorster, who made their Super Rugby debuts last weekend, have extended their contracts until the end of the 2016 season.

The Lions tackle the Stormers at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg on Saturday (19:10 kick-off).
