Lions duo to miss Cape trip

Cape Town - The Lions will be without the services of fullback Andries Coetzee and utility back Alwyn Hollenbach for their Super Rugby clash against the Stormers at Newlands on Saturday.

Coetzee, who recently returned to the playing field after injuring his left knee in pre-season, injured it again against the Sharks last weekend.

Coenie van Wyk, Chrysander Botha or Ruhan Nel could be considered as his replacement or flyhalf Marnitz Boshoff could be shifted back to fullback, with Elton Jantjies then playing flyhalf.

According to the Beeld website, Hollenbach had to undergo an operation after getting a bad cut to his upper lip against the Sharks, and will also miss the trip to Cape Town.

Hollenbach replaced Deon van Rensburg in the game againts the Sharks last week after the latter had injured his knee.

However, it has since emerged that Van Rensburg's knee was only bruised and he'll be ready this weekend.

Kick-off for Saturday's clash at Newlands is scheduled for 17:05.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
