21:09 - PICTURE

No way through for Peter Grant... (Gallo Images)

20:58 - The Waratahs thoroughly deserved their win, they were better with ball in hand, took all their chances, and were more disciplined.

The Stormers' night could have turned out better had Peter Grant slotted those first half penalties, but it probably did not matter as the home side went away in the second period.

Ill discipline again cost the Cape side who have some heavy introspection to do. Set pieces continue to be a troublesome area!

New Director of Rugby Gert Smal has lots do do if he is to turn fortunes around at the union...

In next week's action, the Stormers have a bye, while the Waratahs tackle the Force in Perth.

21:02 - STATS

Metres run: Stormers 267-281 Waratahs
Carries: Stormers 74-106 Waratahs
Defenders beaten: Stormers 12-13 Waratahs
Clean breaks: Stormers 2-0 Waratahs
Tackles made: Stormers 105-75 Waratahs
Tackles missed: Stormers 13-12 Waratahs
Turnovers won: Stormers 5-9 Waratahs
Kicks in play: Stormers 26-26 Waratahs
Lineouts won: Stormers 14-14 Waratahs
Lineouts lost: Stormers 3-2 Waratahs
Scrums won: Stormers 8-7 Waratahs
Scrums lost: Stormers 0-1 Waratahs
Penalties conceded: Stormers 11-15 Waratahs

Interestingly, the Stormers conceded less penalties than the Waratahs, but it has to be noted that a lot of the penalties conceded by the Cape side were in kicking range - and the Australian side made full use of all their opportunities.

20:53 - FULL-TIME: Stormers 11-22 Waratahs

The Stormers are now officially last on the overall Super Rugby log!

20:52 - Not surprisingly, the 'Tahs turn it over and kick it out to end the game!

20:51 - Brave attacking from the Stormers after the hooter. Nick Phipps given a yellow card for slowing the ball down...

20:50 - One more attacking scrum as the 'Tahs knock-on...

20:49 - Kebble almost over to score but held up. Five-metre attacking scrum for the hosts with just more than a minute left...

20:48 - Stephan Coetzee has replaced Deon Fourie at hooker and immediately wins a lineout ball as the hosts set up a drive...

20:47 - A rare scrum penalty for the Stormers gives them the opportunity to get out their own half. The best they can hope for now is a losing bonus point.

20:45 - The Waratahs have now won 8 turnovers to the Stormers' 5 - but a few crucial ones of late have allowed them to play the game inside the Stormers half with four minutes left...

20:45 - Sikhumbuzo Notshe now on at flank for the Stormers.

20:39 - The Stormers lose an attacking lineout close to the 'Tahs line and are then penalised for taking the man who stole their ball - Dave Dennis - out in the air.

Deon Fourie losing the plot now after a good first half. If he was a darts player he would surely miss the board on a few occasions...!

20:38 - Chiefs fans would not be worried at this stage, but this is the Stormers, they are incapable of "chasing" games...

20:38 - PENALTY converted by Foley. It went in off the left-hand upright.

Stormers 11-22 Waratahs after 68 minutes.

20:37 - Another shot at goal from the 'Tahs after they win a penalty at a driving maul close to the tryline. Foley lines up, about 15m in from touch.

20:37 - CROWD ATTENDANCE

25 000 rocked up to watch a struggling side...

20:35 - STORMERS PROPS OFF!

Oliver Kebble and Brok Harris have replaced Frans Malherbe and Steven Kitshoff. Will they be better in the scrums?

20:32 - Front row changes needed now for the Stormers. Every scrum is a penalty against them!

20:31 - PENALTY converted by Beale.

Stormers 11-19 Waratahs after 63 minutes.

20:30 - Another Waratahs penalty at scrum time. Beale will line up from about 35 m out...

20:30 - Catrakilis back on for Stormers, Grant to fullback with Taute off.

Nic Groom is also on at scrumhalf for Louis Schreuder. Good call that!

20:29 - Deon Fourie throws skew into the lineout to give the 'Tahs an attacking opportunity inside Stormers territory.

20:28 - TWEETS

Second movement my arse ... 11-16 - Front Row Grunt

TMOs pathetic - Rob Louw

20:26 - Shaun Veldsman will no doubt be asked why he thought De Jongh had not scored. He must be one of the most controversial TMOs ever!

20:25 - Stormers 11-16 Waratahs after 56 minutes.

20:25 - PICTURE

Will Louis Schreuder keep his starting place for the rest of the season? (Gallo Images)

20:24 - Referee Glen Jackson goes back for a penalty, which Grant KICKS over from in front.

20:23 - NO TRY! De Jongh adjudged to have made a double movement.

But I'm not sure. You are allowed one move forward, which De Jongh did, before scoring on the line!

Veldsman came to the conclusion that De Jongh had used his knee the second time round to get over the line...

20:22 - De Jongh is over the line, but has he grounded it? TMO Shaun Veldsman must decide...

20:21 - Stormers hot on the attack after a dominating lineout maul...

20:18 - With his first touch, Van der Spuy throws a shocking forward pass and into no-man's land. Basics of backline play lagging in this team...

20:17 - Michael van der Spuy has replaced Kobus van Wyk for the Stormers.

20:16 - PENALTY converted by Foley.

Stormers 8-16 Waratahs after 50 minutes.

20:15 - Steven Kitshoff penalised at scrum time, right in front of the posts.

This game is slipping away from the hosts...

Kitshoff not scrumming straight!

20:13 - Taute does this far too often. An up-and-under would have worked better there. The investment in Taute is yet to pay dividends for the union...

20:12 - Another 'Tahs penalty as Jaco Taute isolates himself and holds on too long. Foley kicks it into Stormers territory.

20:11 - Brilliant PENALTY kick from Beale.

Stormers 8-13 Waratahs after 46 minutes.

20:10 - Kickable penalty for the Waratahs as Stormers flank Nizaam Carr is caught off-side...

Beale lines up from about 35m out...

20:09 - Meanwhile, for the Stormers, Grant is back on at flyhalf for Catrakilis. He seems to have passed his concussion test.

20:07 - Waratahs coach Michael Cheika is upset at the decision, but he's wrong.

As commentator Bob Skinstad says: "He definitely has a Michael Cheika few of things on the world."

20:05 - 'Tahs on the brink of scoring, but then concede a penalty as lock Will Skelton is penalised for coming in at a ruck from the side.

20:04 - Foley gets the second half started...

19:59 - Stats wise, the Stormers are right in this game. Marked improvement in their lineouts, with Deon Fourie doing much better this week.

It's only weak goal-kicking from Peter Grant which sees them trail...

19:53 - FIRST HALF STATS

Metres run: Stormers 152-163 Waratahs
Carries: Stormers 39-55 Waratahs
Defenders beaten: Stormers 8-8 Waratahs
Clean breaks: Stormers 2-0 Waratahs
Tackles made: Stormers 54-32 Waratahs
Missed tackles: Stormers 8-8 Waratahs
Turnovers won: Stormers 4-4 Waratahs
Kicks in play: Stormers 15-10 Waratahs
Lineouts won: Stormers 8-9 Waratahs
Lineouts lost: Stormers 0-1 Wartahs
Scrums won: Stormers 4-3 Waratahs

19:52 - HALF-TIME: Stormers 8-10 Waratahs

19:51 - On the stroke of half-time, Jaco Taute launches a penalty attempt from inside his own half, but doesn't come close...

19:48 - Demetri Catrakilis is on for the Stormers as Grant goes off for a concussion test. The way Grant is kicking, it would be better for the Stormers if he remains sidelined.

19:46 - A great attacking chance for the Stormers inside Waratahs territory goes awry as Juan de Jongh inexplicably kicks out on the full...

19:44 - Peter Grant's goal-kicking costing the Stormers now...

19:44 - PENALTY converted by Foley.

Stormers 8-10 Waratahs after 34 minutes.

19:42 - Eventually, after relentless pressure, the Waratahs win a penalty in front...

Ruan Botha penalised for being off-side at the ruck.

19:42 - 'Tahs back on the attack inside the Stormers 22m area. Building phase after phase...

19:41 - PICTURE

19:38 - TWEET

Not convinced with Grant's new kicking regime ... Californian roll in his left pocket? - Front Row Grunt

19:36 - Grant hits the right hand upright, but this time it doesn't go over. Another poor kick by him!

19:34 - Another kickable penalty in range for the Stormers after a high tackle. Douglas again the culprit, almost took Grant's head off!

Grant gets up to take the kick from about 30m out, 20m in from the touchline...

19:32 - Grant, about 20m in from touch, pulls the conversion badly to the left. His goal-kicking is a worry!

Stormers 8-7 Waratahs after 22 minutes.

19:30 - TRY! Kobus van Wyk scores after a brilliant break in midfield by Juan de Jongh.

Van Wyk's first Super Rugby try! Great break from the Bok centre though...

19:29 - However, a shocking kick from Beale gives them another chance...

19:29 - Unfortunately for the hosts Deon Fourie throws a shocker and the Waratahs win it after the Stormers payer catching it is put under immense pressure...

19:28 - Stormers win another penalty at lineout time. Grant sets up an attacking lineout on the 'Tahs 22.

19:25 - Easy CONVERSION by Bernard Foley.

Stormers 3-7 Waratahs after 15 minutes.

19:23 - TRY! A massive mix-up at the back of the Stormers scrum between Vermeulen and Schreuder sees Waratahs No 9 Nick Phipps pounce and score.

Poor communication between the Stormers 8 and 9 as the ball just popped out at the back of the scrum...

I'll say it again. Is Schreuder the best No 9 in the Cape?

19:22 - Waratahs right back on the attack after the Stormers fail to handle the kick-off. How often have we seen that?!

The hosts are lucky as the 'Tahs knock-on...

19:21 - PENALTY converted by Grant. The ball went over after hitting the left hand upright! Quite a shaky looking kick...

Stormers 3-0 Waratahs after 12 minutes.

19:20 - Penalty in range for the Stormers. Douglas goes from hero to zero as he plays Ruan Botha in the air at a lineout.

19:19 - Stormers set up 10 phases of attack inside the 'Tahs 22m area, but then lose it...

Lock Kane Douglas stole it on the ground there...

19:18 - Duane Vermeulen wins a penalty on the ground and the Stormers are out of jail...

19:15 - Grant brings relief, kicks it out just outside the Stormers 22m area.

19:14 - Turnover won by Stormers!

19:13 - After a penalty close to the touchline, the 'Tahs opt against kicking for posts and set up an attacking lineout five metres out.

19:11 - Great break from Waratahs wing Peter Betham down the Grand Stand touchline sees the Aussies surge into the Stormers 22m area, but a knock-on and good scramble defence come to he rescue for the Stormers.

19:09 - Peter Grant starts proceedings.

19:09 - Massive roar as Duane Vermeulen leads out the Stormers. Best crowd in the world. Their fans deserve more than they get from the team...

19:05 - Welcome to our coverage of the day's final game. The Stormers are on the ropes, having won only 1 out of 6. They are also ravaged by injuries and have a new captain in Duane Vermeulen tonight.

However, the players will surely be eager to impress newly appointed Director of Rugby, Gert Smal.

They may just spring a surprise in front of what looks like a pretty decent crowd - if you consider their season results thus far...
