12:36 - SUMMARY

No doubt a better performance from the Cheetahs, but as Adriaan Strauss said, they have lots to work on.

Their lineouts were troublesome, while defence continues to prove a burden as well as discipline!

In next week's action, the Cheetahs tackle the Hurricanes in Wellington, while the Reds face the Sharks in Durban.

12:32 - QUOTE

"Disappointing you know. We played a bit better than last weekend. Still a lot to work on.
But we’ll definitely bounce back," said Cheetahs captain Adriaan Struass.

12:26 - FULL-TIME: Reds 43-33 Cheetahs.

Heartbreaking for the Cheetahs to lose the bonus point at the end there - a point they probably deserved.

But what an entertaining game of rugby. Great to see skill put on display!

12:28 - TWEET

Reds hooker on the deck prior to penalty . First infringement not picked up . 3 points against Cheetahs . Denies them bonus point - Jonathan Kaplan

12:26 - PENALTY converted by Cooper and the Cheetahs lose their bonus point.

12:25 - And the Cheetahs are penalised at the last scrum. Cooper will line up from next to the posts to deny the Cheetahs that bonus point. Tough call by the referee though. Looks like the Reds went down first in that scrum...

12:22 - The Reds knock on close to Cheetahs tryline... Time is up and the Cheetahs have a scrum on their own line.

Can they go 100m for a draw? They wouldn't want to concede points here as it would see them miss out on a losing bonus point.

12:21 - Reds back in Cheetahs 22m area with two minutes left... They're going for the kill.

12:20 - CROWD ATTENDANCE

27 760 fans at Suncorp Stadium.

12:18 - The Cheetahs concede a penalty while trying to run from inside their own 22m area. But the Reds make a mistake by not kicking for posts and the Cheetahs win the ball back when the Reds hold on at the breakdown...

That was a chance to put the game to bed for the hosts...

12:17 - CONVERSION by Watts. Reds 40-33 Cheetahs after 74 minutes. The Cheetahs are back in it!

12:16 - TRY! Sarel Pretorius takes gap in midfield and passes to his inside to flyhalf Elgar Watts who sprints through to score his first Super Rugby try.

12:13 - With 10 minutes to go, the Reds have brought on Jono Owen for prop Ben Daley.

Nick Frisby also on at scrumhalf for Will Genia.

12:12 - PENALTY converted by Cooper,. Reds 40-26 Cheetahs after 69 minutes.

12:11 - Cooper to have another shot from about 44m out after the Cheetahs again transgress...

12:09 - MILESTONE FOR COOPER

Quade Cooper (632) has now passed Elton Flatley as the leading Super Rugby point scorer for the Reds.

12:08 -PENALTY converted by Cooper. Reds 37-26 Cheetahs after 65 minutes.

12:06 - The Reds, back on the Cheetahs 22m line, win a penalty from right in front after Lood de Jager goes off-side. Copper to have a shot...

12:04 - THE GOOSE IS OFF

Elgar Watts has replaced Johan Goosen at flyhalf for the Cheetahs.

12:02 - Two-time try-scorer for the Reds, Chris Feauai-Sautia, is off, replaced by Ben Tapuai.

20 minutes left...

12:02 - PENALTY converted by Goosen. Reds 34-26 Cheetahs after 59 minutes.

12:00 - Cheetahs now back on the attack inside the Reds 22. No shortage of action here today!

They get a penalty right in front after the Reds slow the ball down... Goosen will line up. Good call. There is enough time (22 minutes) to get back for more points.

11:58 - The Reds have brought on a new hooker. Saia Fainga’a on for James Hanson.

11:57 - Cooper misses the conversion by hitting the left hand upright. Reds 34-23 Cheetahs after 55 minutes.

11:57 - TWEET

TMO decision pending... was there separation between ball and ball carrier ?? Difficult decision either way - Jonathan Kaplan

11:56 - TRY awarded. Replays showed Goosen disrupted the ball in Feauai-Sautia's hands but it also showed he had some downward pressure. Fair call in my book...

11:55 - Centre Feauai-Sautia follows up a chip-kick and looks to have scored... Another TMO call...

11:54 - Reds back on attack inside the Cheetahs 22. Defence to be put to the test...

11:53 - TWEET

Nyakane on for Oosthuizen ... That's proper confidence in Van Dyk, who has got better through the game. Goes up a bit to easily though - Front Row Grunt

11:51 - MILESTONE FOR GOOSEN

Johan Goosen has become the Cheetahs' all-time leading point-scorer with 227, moving past Sias Ebersohn.

11:50 - CHEETAHS REPLACEMENT

Trevor Nyakane on at prop for Caylib Oosthuizen.

11:50 - PENALTY converted by Goosen. Reds 29-23 Cheetahs after 49 minutes.

11:48 - Pretorius shows his opportunistic side when he pounces on a loose ball and kicks it up field. Unfortunately he doesn't get a kind bounce to score...

But the Cheetahs keep attacking and win a penalty. Goosen to line up from in front...

11:47 - The Reds have brought a new prop on. James Slipper for Greg Holmes. Scrums the one area the hosts are finding the going a little tough...

11:46 - SUPER SAREL ON

Sarel Pretorius on for Shaun Venter at scrumhalf for the Cheetahs.

11:45 - Five minutes into the half and it's a bit of an aerial ding-dong affair, which the Reds seem to be on top of. Lineout inside the Cheetahs 22m...

11:43 - Another troublesome lineout a few minutes later...

Strauss is having trouble finding his jumpers. That scuppers a great attacking opportunity for the Cheetahs...

11:41 - Cheetahs again having trouble with their first lineout, but win it after a tap-back...

11:40 - Cooper gets proceedings underway...

11:40 - Welcome back for the second half.

11:30 - Quade Cooper is now level with Elton Flatley as the leading Super Rugby point scorer for the Reds with a total of 629.

11:27 - Cooper draws it back beautifully to CONVERT from the touchline and that's HALF-TIME: Reds 29-20 Cheetahs.

11:26 - TRY! Hooker James Hanson sprints down the touchline like a wing to score. That's the bonus point for the hosts! My word, there are some gaping holes in this Cheetahs defensive line...

11:25 - Reds launch one last surge into the Cheetahs 22...

11:24 - PENALTY converted by Goosen. Reds 22-20 Cheetahs after 39 minutes.

11:23 - After a dominant scrum the Cheetahs win a penalty when Reds scrumhalf Will Genia goes off-side...

Goosen lines up from in front, 30m out. You should be able to go to the bank on this one, right?

11:21 - Cooper misses the conversion from the corner. Reds 22-17 Cheetahs after 36 minutes.

11:20 - TRY awarded to the centre. Replays clearly show the grounding.

The try was set up after a quick tap when the hosts decided not to take an easy penalty kick from right in front. Cheetahs defence again caught napping!

11:19 - Reds again surge into Cheetahs 22m area... and this time it looks like Chris Feauai-Sautia has scored. Another TMO call... He was earlier denied a try when Benjamin kicked the ball out of his hands.

11:17 - Cooper misses it to the right. Scores remain level.

11:15 - The Cheetahs defence holds out, but they are penalised after Benjamin is caught off-side. Cooper will have a shot at goal, about 10m from the touchline...

11:14 - The Reds counter and surge into the Cheetahs 22m area...

11:13 - Goosen has the legs but AGAIN pulls it to the left... another chance missed...

11:12 - Reds flank Liam Gill steals a Cheetahs ball on the ground only to be penalised for then holding on too long. Another chance for Goosen to line up, 51 metres out...

11:10 - PENALTY converted by Goosen. Reds 17-17 Cheetahs after 26 minutes. Brilliant kick by The Goose. No pulling it to the left that time!

11:09 - Goosen gets another shot at goal after a scrum penalty... He lines up on the Reds 10m line close to the touchline...

11:08 - FRONT ROW WEIGHTS

11:04 - PENALTY converted by Cooper. Reds 17-14 Cheetahs after 22 minutes.

11:03 - The Reds win a penalty within kicking range when Francois Venter comes in from the side at a ruck... Cooper will line up, about 30m out, slightly to the right of the posts...

11:02 - The Cheetahs recently let defence coach Michael Horak go. Looks like they're missing him today!

10:58 - FINALLY the Cheetahs win a lineout!

And they almost score from it as Johann Sadie brilliantly follows up a kick but he unfortunately knocks it on inside the Reds 22m area...

10:57 - Goosen easily has the distance but he pulls it to the left. Amazing how often he pulls a kick to that side...

10:56 - The Cheetahs win a penalty on half-way and Goosen will line up...

10:55 - Benjamin is now back from his 10 minute hiatus...

10:55 - PICTURE

PACE TO BURN... Rod Davies - Getty Images

10:55 - Cooper CONVERTS right from the corner. Reds 14-14 Cheetahs.

10:53 - TRY! It's raining tries here as the hosts hit right back. Reds right wing Rod Davies scores in the corner! That's the problem when you're one man down... just a simple "through the hands" backline move from the hosts...

10:53 - Goosen CONVERTS. Reds 7-14 Cheetahs after 10 minutes.

10:52 - PICTURE

Boom Prinsloo scores under the sticks... - Getty Images

10:52 - TRY! Boom Prinsloo, standing in midfield, intercepts a wide pass from Cooper and scores under the posts...He ran more than half the field!

10:51 - The Cheetahs lose their second lineout on the trot after Strauss is adjudged to have thrown in skew...

10:50 - Goosen naughty as he fails to kick out after the Cheetahs win a penalty just inside their own half... The Reds kick it back into Cheetahs territory.

10:48 - PACK WEIGHTS

Reds 874kg

Cheetahs 900kg

10:47 - CONVERSION by Goosen from the corner. That will do his confidence a world of good! Reds 7-7 Cheetahs after 5 minutes.

10:45 - TRY! The Cheetahs hit right back via a try from centre Francois Venter.

A brilliant break from left wing Willie le Roux set that up! Classy Springbok player that...

10:44 - Quade Cooper CONVERTS. Reds 7-0 Cheetahs after 2 minutes.

10:43 - PENALTY TRY! Rayno Benjamin is sent to the SIN-BIN after he is adjudged to have kicked the ball out of Feauai-Sautia's hands just as he attempted to score. Correct decision!

10:42 - The Reds, via a first attacking lineout, are clean through the Cheetahs midfield and it looks like outside centre Chris Feauai-Sautia has scored. TMO to decide...

Gaping holes in Cheetahs midfield!

10:41 - Cheetahs lose their first lineout... sigh...

10:40 - Referee Garratt Williamson blows his whistle as Goosen kicks off to start the game...

10:38 - The Cheetahs are back in their traditional white today as Adriaan Strauss leads them out. They have never beaten the Reds in Brisbane...

10:35 - CONDITIONS

Fine conditions in Brisbane. 23 Degrees Celsius.

10:33 - Also a big night for tighthead prop Maks van Dyk, who was given the nod in place of Coenie Oosthuizen after the latter returned to South Africa with a neck injury.

Interesting that coach Naka Drotské did not opt for Springbok Trevor Nyakane, who remains on the bench.

10:30 - Cheetahs flyhalf Johan Goosen's goal-kicking will also be under the spotlight today. He missed easy kicks at goal last week in Melbourne and it proved costly. Got to put over those sitters!

His duel with Wallaby Quade Cooper will also be enthralling!

10:21 - TWEET

The Cheetahs have missed more tackles than any other side (70) so far, their average of 23.3 misses per game is also a competition high - JW Coetzee

10:12 - The Cheetahs are yet to convince me this season. They lost at home to the Lions in their first game before beating the Bulls the following week.

However, the Bulls goal-kickers misfired badly that night and despite error after error from the Pretoria side, the Cheetahs could only win 15-9. They were horrible in a 35-14 reverse to the Rebels last week and unless they markedly improve - especially their defence and discipline - they will come unstuck again today...

9:58 - CONCERN OVER COENIE'S NECK

Springbok Coenie Oosthuizen is heading home after a neck injury has seriously put his season - and perhaps his career - in jeopardy.
