10:22 - Thanks for joining us this morning!

Be sure to stayed glued to Sport24, South Africa's No 1 sporting website, for Live Updates from this afternoon's THREE Vodacom Super Rugby matches in SA...

Cheetahs v Chiefs - 15:00
Lions v Crusaders - 17:05
Stormers v Waratahs - 19:10

10:21 - In next weekend's Round 9 action, the Hurricanes have a bye, while the Bulls travel to Dunedin to face the Highlanders (Friday, April 11 at 09:35)

10:20 - The Bulls pick up a single point for losing by seven or fewer points. They jump to second in the SA Conference and fourth in the Overall standings.

10:19 - The Hurricanes pick up four points for their victory to second in the New Zealand Conference and seventh in the Overall log.

10:19 - The Hurricanes have won 25-20 as Barrett lands an injury-time penalty.

10:18 - FULL-TIME in Napier!

10:17 - Penalty to the Bulls - and they take it quickly.

Bad mistake as the Hurricanes force the Bulls towards the touchline. Big tackle from the medium-sized Beauden Barrett

10:15 - But they too knock on. Scrum to the Bulls in the shadow on their own posts as the clock shows 78:53...

10:15 - Another scrum, this time to the Hurricanes, as time ticks down to the final 120 seconds...

10:14 - Huge, and I mean H-U-G-E backline defence by the Hurricanes forces the Bulls into a forward pass.

Take a bow, Conrad Smith...

10:12 - Four minutes to play in Napier. Can the Bulls mount a comeback?

If so, they'll have to do it from their own half...

10:10 - The Hurricanes wary of the Bulls' lineout and rolling maul refusing to kick for touch.

Costing them though as the Bulls simply return the mid-field kicks with aplomb

10:09 - Penalty to the Hurricanes and that man Barrett lands a fantastic long-range kick.

Hurricanes back in the lead 22-20 after 73 minutes

10:08 - Dewald Potgieter interviewed on the touchline confirms he has a bicep injury

10:08 - TWEET

No matter the result ... Incredible character shown by Bulls ... Captaincy tick for Flip Vd Merwe I reckon - Front Row Grunt

10:05 - Ill-discipline by the Hurricanes sees TJ Perenara throw the ball in the face of a Bulls player.

The Bulls will be thrilled they are getting under the skins of a flustered Hurricanes side

10:03 - And the Bulls take the lead for the first time in the match as Pollard converts his own try.

Bulls lead 20-19 after 68 minutes!

10:03 - Handre Pollard slices through the Hurricanes' backline to score!

10:02 - TRY!

10:01 - Well done to Francois Hougaard for milking that penalty!

Slapping the Hurricanes player on the ground who had no chance to roll away.

Pollard puts the ball into touch 6m from the 'Canes line.

Rolling maul time!

10:00 - The kick is OVER!

Finally a change to the half-time score as the Hurricanes stretch their lead to 19-13 after 65 minutes

10:00 - The Hurricanes break out from their own 22m in fantastic fashion and go close to scoring.

Ref Walsh awards them a penalty which Barrett will kick for goal...

9:57 - The Bulls put a rolling maul into motion and make good metres before it comes to nought

9:55 - The Hurricanes continue to hold onto their 16-13 lead from half-time as 61 minutes elapses

9:55 - But it's a SHOCKER!

Hooked woefully away to the left of the uprights

9:53 - Penalty to the Bulls and Pollard will have a chance to level the scores...

9:50 - Julian Savea breaks more tackles. I'd love to know how many that is tonight...

But the Hurricanes knock on and the Bulls are back on attack

9:49 - More messy play from both sides with THREE knock-ons.

Advantage finally over. Scrum to the Bulls just inside their own half.

9:46 - Bulls looking far better in the second half. Silly errors just costing them points at present as the clock ticks past the 51 minute mark...

9:44 - And they do so well and are awarded a penalty which Jacques-Louis Potgieter clears to touch - and immediately thereafter limps off the field.

Replaced by Handre Pollard

9:43 - It's now the Bulls' time to defend as the 'Canes enter their 22m area

9:42 - The Bulls elect to take a scrum, clear the ball under pressure but concede a penalty for holding on as Jack Lam is all over the ball like white on rice

9:40 - Bit of a stop-start affair to the second half with more injury delays.

Scrum time - and the first skew put-in of the match goes against the Hurricanes.

Honestly no change to every other feed this match...

9:37 - Bulls on the attack!

This match is still there for the winning for the men from Pretoria as the Hurricanes show both the good - and the bad - in their game...

Running metres first half:

Hurricanes: 306
Bulls 92

Tackles made:

Hurricanes 27
Bulls: 97

Flip van der Merwe made 16 tackles in the first half - some players don't do that in a game!

9:34 - No changes to either team at the break

9:21 - The Hurricanes hold a slender 16-13 lead after the first 40 minutes.

Join us in 10 minutes for the second stanza!

9:21 - And that's HALF-TIME in Napier

9:17 - And among all that frantic action, Dewald 'Mad Dog' Potgieter is forced to leave the field clutching his arm

9:17 - Jacques-Louis Potgieter adds the conversion and the Hurricanes now lead 16-13 after 36 minutes

9:16 - Shock all round at the stadium - and the rest of the world I'd suggest

9:16 - But just like that the Bulls hit back through a try by fullback Jurgen Visser!

9:16 - TRY!

9:15 - That man Barrett on target again with a penalty.

The Hurricanes lead 16-6 after 34 minutes

9:14 - PICTURE

Can you see the Bulls... ? -
All Blacks

9:11 - Ben Franks forced to leave the field, replaced by Reggie Goodes

9:10 - Referee Steve Walsh penalises the Hurricanes at the scrum for something unclear to pretty much the rest of the world...

9:08 - The Bulls cut the Hurricanes' lead to 13-6 after 29 minutes

9:08 - And it's GOOD!

9:08 - Jacques-Louis Potgieter lines up a penalty at posts from 38.6m out...

9:07 - And the commentators mention Callie Visagie's name for the very first time as he throws in at a lineout...

9:06 - Everyone keeps telling me that Bulls centre pairing JJ Engelbrecht and Jan Serfontein are world class.

Until I see ANY indication, the jury is still out...

9:05 - TWEET

Beauden Barrett has taken his game to another level this year. All Blacks well stocked at 10 with Dan Carter and Aaron Cruden too - Jon Cardinelli

9:03 - TWEET

And on cue, there's the Front Row Grunt!

Bulls monstered in a scrum ... Franks eats Greyling, pausing only for popcorn and a strawberry slush ... Getting untidy for the camo boys

9:02 - Barrett lands a second penalty as the Hurricanes once again restore their 10-point lead.

Hurricanes up 13-3 after 22 minutes

9:01 - Jacques-Louis Potgieter gets bandaged up. His leg certainly not at 100% right now

9:01 - Bulls' pack absolutely MONSTERED in that scrum!

Where is Tank Lanning when you need him!?

8:59 - Potgieter gets the Bulls on the scoreboard with a penalty.

Hurricanes lead 10-3 after 20 minutes

8:56 - Tweets flying in thick and fast - here are some of the better ones...

Bulls looking completely flustered! Like U12B asked to play first XV ... - Front Row Grunt

Anyone seen Callie Visagie this game? Is the camo working that well? - Brenden Nel

Fired-up Dewald P has now accidentally taken out two teammates: Steggies (off) and sub Jacques du Plessis! - Rob Houwing

8:55 - Barrett's conversion is GOOD!

The Hurricanes lead 10-0 after 17 minutes

8:55 - Nothing less than they deserve. They've played all the rugby to date.

8:54 - Nice cross-kick for Barrett is controlled by Cory Jane, who passes inside to Andre Taylor who scores for the Hurricanes!

8:54 - TRY!

8:54 - The Bulls lacking composure in the early stages as the are forced to concede a 5m scrum

8:53 - If you missed the mid-week rolling maul spat, read all about it HERE

8:51 - The Bulls set in motion one of their "controversial" rolling mauls, but Francois Hougaard clears it the backline, but flyhalf Jacques-Louis Potgieter picks up a dead leg as the Hurricanes win another penalty for holding on.

8:49 - TWEET

This camo kit is working so well I haven't seen the Bulls in the opening 10 minutes of this game. - Cindy Poluta

8:47 - Penalty to the Hurricanes as Jan Serfontein holds onto the ball in the tackle.

Hurricanes flyhalf Beauden Barrett lands the three-pointer to give the 'Canes a 3-0 lead after 10 minutes.

The Bulls will settle for that as they finally get into the home side's half from the restart...

8:46 - Incredible stats... after EIGHT minutes, Hurricanes No 9 TJ Perenara has handled the ball 28 times!

8:45 - Jacques du Plessis on as his replacement

8:44 - Bulls players down all over the field as the Hurricanes knock on.

Deon Stegmann looks the worst - and he's off!

8:43 - Good old fashioned South African defence at its best - for now...

8:41 - Six minutes gone and the Bulls haven't been in the Hurricanes' half

8:41 - The Hurricanes really testing the Bulls defence early on. Bulls being asked to make a number of tackles.

Not ideal for the men from Pretoria...

8:40 - DID YOU KNOW?

The Bulls have not lost to Hurricanes since the 2008 season, won four on the trot including two wins in NZ...

Welcome to Sport24's LIVE scoring and interactive commentary on today's Super Rugby match between the Hurricanes and Bulls from Napier!

  • 82'

A much better second half performance from the Bulls who managed to retain the ball a bit better and look more keen. The Canes always had the upper hand as they dominated most aspects of the game. Credit to the Bulls who nearly managed to squeeze a win out of a game where on another day they would have lost by 15 to 20 points. The Canes played incredibly well but just battled to finish.

  • 81'

PENALTY, CANES, BARRETT, 25-20. No mistake from barrett as he secures his teams victory!

  • 80'

The Canes win a penalty straight out in front! They opting for a shot at goal even though there's not much to gain from it!

  • 79'

The Canes knock it on close to the line after a strong Savea run! Bulls are still in this as we head into the last minute of the game!

  • 78'

After many reset scrum the Bulls attack from their own half but a pass is called forward and the Canes will now have an attacking opportunity!

  • 72'

PENALTY, CANES, BARRETT, 22-20. Great strike from barrett who has had a flawless night with the boot!

  • 71'

The Canes are ecstatic as they win a penalty from the scrum! Kruger was the guilty man there! Barrett will have a challenging shot at goal.

  • 70'

An exciting passage of play from the Hurricanes comes to an end as a pass is called forward. Bulls are looking out on their feet and need to retain as much possession as possible in the last 10min!

  • 68'

CONVERSION, POLLARD, 20-19. Pollard converts his try and incredibly takes his side into the lead!

  • 67'

TRY! BULLS, POLLARD, 19-18. The much expected driving maul is defended well from 5m out and the Bulls release the backline instead. Pollard gets it steps inside and goes straight through under the poles!

  • 65'

PENALTY, CANES, BARRETT, 19-13. No mistake from Barrett who scores the first points of the half!

  • 64'

Great kick from Perenara on the blind side is recollected! Taylor gets the ball and gains good ground! Bulls scrambling again and do well to prevent a try but did concede a penalty. Barrett will take three.

  • 63'

The momentum is slowly turning here as Bulls win another penalty inside their own half. They kick for touch. They build a phase of attack keeping it close but retaining possession. Eventually a big hit from the Canes causes a knock on. Incredibly the Bulls now have a chance of winning this one tonight from looking completely out of it in the first half.

  • 60'

Pollard has pulled it! bad miss for the Bulls!

  • 59'

Pollard makes a half break to get the Bulls some momentum. They kicking less and looking more energetic this half! It pays off and the visitors win a penalty straight in front and Pollard should be able to level the scores here!

  • 57'

Savea makes a strong run up the mid-field and offloads to Taylor who can't hold! The Bulls gather and put a kick through into touch in the Canes 22m. If Taylor had held on there was loads of space in front of him!

  • 52'

Jacques-Louis Potgieter has been added to the injury list tonight for the Bulls as he hobbles off and is replaced by Pollard.

  • 51'

Credit to the Bulls who continue to prevent the game getting away from them as they defend well! A wave of attack from the Canes is brought to an end as the visitors win a penalty in their own half.

  • 48'

Bulls have certainly come out a bit more energetic this half but Canes are still looking too strong. Great work from Lam who has done incredibly well to win his side a penalty at the breakdown.

  • 45'

A great kick from the Bulls is collected by basson who almost gets away for a try! They manage to retain possession as Visser comes close in the right corner! The canes eventually turnover possession and clear, resulting in a drop goal attempt from Potgieter which just slides wide.

  • 43'

HUGE hit from Lam on Hougaard!! He went blind off the maul but didn't see the canes flanker who nailed him!

  • 42'

The second half is underway! Bulls are the first to attack but can't hold for too long! The Canes get possession and kick into the Bulls half into touch.

  • 40'

The half time score completely flatters the Bulls! They haven't quite pitched up tonight and the Canes have also been incredible in retaining possession and forcing the Bulls to do all the tackling which is causing them to fatigue. The Bulls try was fairly sloppy from the Canes where as the Canes probably should have scored one or two more. The Bulls are going to really need to turn it up a few notches if they want to win this one.

  • 39'

The Canes look good as they attack aggressively with the ball carriers with Savea especially making good ground! Once again a kick is put through. It goes into touch. Bulls are scrambling at the moment!

  • 35'

CONVERSION, BULLS, POTGIETER, 16-13. Flawless kicking from the two pivots tonight!

  • 34'

TRY! BULLS, VISSER, 16-11. Try from nowhere! Visser puts a high kick up into the Canes 22m. Broadhurst is there but rather lazily attempts to catch it. It pops up for the Bulls and Visser is there to collect and score!

  • 33'

PENALTY, CANES, BARRETT, 16-6. Barrett kicking well tonight!

  • 32'

The Bulls are just far too slow to the breakdown tonight as the Canes win another penalty! Barrett will have another shot at three.

  • 31'

Visagie's line out throw goes to no one and the Canes pick it up and attack. Dane Coles amongst others have some solid runs to gain ground! Barrett puts a grubber through but the Bulls manage to secure it and clear.

  • 30'

The Canes are winning the aerial battle as they win the ball from their own kick off through Savea! They attack strongly again before they spill the ball inside the Bulls 22m. The Canes infringe at the resulting scrum and the Bulls win a penalty!

  • 28'

PENALTY, BULLS, POTGIETER, 13-6. Potgieter strikes it straight and narrows the gap.

  • 27'

The Bulls have a rare opportunity with ball in hand as they attack off a line out. The Canes infringe at the break down and the visitors obtain a penalty. Potgieter will have a shot at 3.

  • 25'

Bit of a kicking duel takes place between the two sides with Barrett eventually finding touch on the half way.

  • 23'

More stunning play from the home side! Barrett puts up a high kick from his own 22m. Smith gets there and wins the high ball! Perenara then puts a chip kick over the ruck which Barrett collects! He is bundled into touch before he can get a pass away!

  • 22'

PENALTY, CANES, BARRETT, 13-3. Barrett continues his good form with the boot tonight!

  • 21'

Bulls get hammered at scrum time! Canes have won a penalty in kicking range and could extend their lead to 10. Bulls are not looking good so far, could be a long night for them.

  • 20'

Andre Taylor makes a great break in open play showing signs of his old form! He passes to Coles whose in support but he's tackled from behind and loses the ball forward!

  • 18'

PENALTY, BULLS, POTGIETER, 10-3. Bulls win a penalty immediately off the kick off and Potgieter makes no mistake!

  • 16'

CONVERSION, BARRETT, 10-0. Barrett with another good strike!

  • 15'

TRY! CANES, TAYLOR, 8-0. Great try from the Canes! Barrett seeing they have an overlap puts a cross kick over the Bulls defense, Jane collects and pops down to a storming Andre Taylor who crashes over for the first try of the night!

  • 14'

The Canes are all over a fairly tired looking Bulls unit! They gain good ground from retain possession before Barrett puts a cheeky grubber kick through. Ndungane is back in time as the Bulls manage to secure the ball. The Canes tackle strongly and take them over their own line to win a 5m scrum.

  • 12'

The Bulls execute a successful driving maul as they make some good ground. The Bulls attack strongly but the Canes win a penalty and will kick for touch!

  • 9'

PENALTY, CANES, BARRETT, 3-0. Good start from Barrett! Perfect kicking conditions tonight.

  • 9'

Serfontein crashes it up and the Canes are all over him as Leiua makes the hit and Lam is their first to secure the home side a penalty! Great play from the Canes. Barrett will have a fairly simple shot at goal.

  • 8'

The Canes find some space on the left wing through Alapati Leiua! His offload doesn't go to hand and the Bulls will finally have possession with a scrum just outside their 22m. Stegmann has taken a bit of knock and is leaving the field fairly gingerly.

  • 7'

The Canes are making the Bulls do a lot of tackling as they keep probing on attack! The Bulls defense is holding strong but it's only a matter of time if the Canes keep this up.

  • 5'

The Canes are looking good and managing to retain possession and build some phases on attack. No leaks from the Bulls defense as the attack comes to an end after Dane Coles puts a foot in touch.

  • 3'

The Canes use Savea as a crash ball runner off the line out to gain momentum. Eventually Perenara puts a grubber through which goes out right by the bulls try line.

  • 1'

And Barrett gets us underway! Bulls collect and clear through Jacques-Louis Potgieter.

  • 0'

Hurricanes news: The Hurricanes have been boosted by the return of both Victor Vito and Cory Jane. The All Black duo start the game at number eight and right wing respectively while Brad Shields makes his return to the squad via the bench. Tim Bateman is ruled out of the game so Alapati Leiua lines up in midfield alongside Conrad Smith, with Andre Taylor continuing at fifteen. Vito and Shields' comeback to the squad means Blade Thomson moves to the bench while Ardie Savea drops out altogether for the home game. Jeff Toomaga-Allen is a doubt and is therefore bracketed with John Schwalger, with Reggie Goodes backing up the latter on the bench.

  • 0'

Bulls news: Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has named fit-again lock Flip van der Merwe in his starting XV for the clash with the Hurricanes in Napier. The 67 cap lock takes over the captaincy and number five jersey from Victor Matfield in one of two changes to the starting pack that played against the Chiefs. In the other, Jacques Engelbrecht comes in at number eight, with Dewald Potgieter moving to the side of the scrum in place of Jacques du Plessis, who moves to the bench. Matfield and Jono Ross do not feature in the matchday 23.

Welcome to McLean Park in Napier for our Super Rugby coverage featuring the Bulls first game on tour against the Canes! Should be a mighty tussle tonight with the Bulls starting to find some form and the Canes just coming off a confidence boosting victory against the Crusaders last week!
