80' - In next weekend's Round 15 action, the Sharks play the Blues in North Harbour while the Crusaders tackle the Highlanders in Dunedin

80' - The Sharks picked up four points for their victory to extend their lead atop both the SA Conference and the Overall log.

The Crusaders picked up a single point for losing by seven or fewer points, but stayed third and fifth in the NZ Conference and Overall log, respectively.

Sharks win 30-25

Incredible stuff. Well played the Sharks!

History made in Christchurch

80' - Last chance saloon for the Crusaders as the hooter sounds.

78' - A night for history as the Sharks have never beaten the Crusaders in Christchurch

77' - Staggeringly the Sharks only need 1 more try to score a bonus point!

77' - Swiel adds the CONVERSION and the Sharks lead 30-25 after 77 minutes

76' - Fantastic stuff from the men from Durban. Poor stupidity from the Crusaders - but we don't care!

75' - INCREDIBLE scenes in Christchurch as KYLE COOPER scores!

75' - TRY to the Sharks!

74' - One day the NZ teams will learn they DON'T have to run every kick from inside their 22m and the Crusaders are trapped and forced to concede a lineout

73' - This time Slade makes no mistake

Crusaders led 25-23 as Alberts rejoins the fray having spent his 10 minutes in the sin-bin

72' - BUT Slade will have ANOTHER chance to regain the lead from the restart as replacement prop for the Sharks, Lourens Adriaanse, is penalised

72' - Slade's kick is AWAY TO THE RIGHT!

Crazy stuff as the Sharks 'only' have 8 minutes to hold on for what would be a famous win

71' - Slade will have another shot at goal to regain the Crusaders the lead. Lost count of how many lead changes that would be...

70' - OH DEAR for the Crusaders as Fijian wing Nemani Nadolo butchers anotehr try for the Crusaders. Woeful play from their import

69' - Sharks BACK IN THE LEAD thanks to a penalty by replacement TIM SWIEL

Amazing stuff in Christchurch. Sharks have 10 minutes to survive - still down to 13 men!

Sharks No 9 Cobus Reinach clears under pressure (Twitter)

67' - Good old-fashioned dust-up the forwards - and a few backline players - as referee doesn't bother consulting his TMO

66' - Crusaders lead 22-20 after 66 minutes as the Crusaders and Sharks make a number of changes

Whole new front row for the Sharks

65' - Slade will have a chance to give the Crusaders the lead - AND HE DOES!

64' - Plenty of warnings for the Sharks and in the 'red zone' the referee finally losing his patience

64' - Willem Alberts sees yellow as the Sharks are reduced to 13 men for the next 10 minutes at least

64' - YELLOW CARD for the Sharks!

62' - But the Crusaders throw in skew and the Sharks escape again!

They elect - wisely - a lineout rather than a scrum and win a penalty!

61' - The Crusaders turn defence into attack in a blink of an eye as the Sharks are forced to concede a lineout inside their 22m

60' - Slade lands the PENALTY cutting the Sharks' lead to 20-19 after 60 minutes

59' - Sharks concede a penalty on their 5m line and the Crusaders elect to go for posts, giving up a prime try-scoring opportunity.

The Sharks certainly won't mind...

57' - Narrow escape by the Sharks as Crusaders flank Jordan Taufua fails to pick up the ball with the tryline beckoning...

56' - The Crusaders are under the pump and will have to get their proverbial A into G if they wish to win today

55' - The Sharks are actually dominating possession and territory this half - amazing!

54' - Steyn fails in his effort to increase the Sharks' lead as his effort falls short

Jean Deysel sees red... (
Twitter )

51' - Penalty to the Sharks at the lineout and Steyn lands the three-pointer as the Sharks stretch their lead!

Sharks 20-16 after 52 minutes

50' - Half an hour for the Sharks to hang on.

Can they do it? Would certainly be the most impressive of the year - perhaps the history of the tournament!

49' - I feel like a bit of a genius... as the Crusaders make that change!

Off goes Heinz, on comes Andy Ellis

It would kind of sum up SA luck in Super Rugby 2014 if Sharks hang in heroically here and go down by eight! - Rob Houwing

48' - Sharks 'D' remains good but the Crusaders chossing wrong option after wrong option, as the Sharks commit a professional foul, get a talking to, and Colin Slade adds a penalty.

Sharks lead 17-16 after 48 minutes

47' - Crusaders fairly hopeless at present. Willie Heinz comfortably the slowest clearer of ruck ball in the game!

46' - SURELY the Crusaders should be keeping it tight?

Sharks debunking the notion it's a disadvantage with 14 men at present!

45' - Sharks defence fanning out and the Crusaders playing into their hands by swinging it left and right rather than targeting their advantage in the forwards?

43' - Steyn CONVERSION is OVER!

Sharks lead 17-13 after 43 minutes!

42' - Scrumhalf COBUS REINACH the man with the five-pointer as the Sharks take the lead with the conversion to come...

42' - TMO gives the thumbs-up and whatever coach Jake White said at half-time has clearly worked!

41' - Good grief! 14 man Sharks take the lead - or have they... TMO consulted

41' - TRY to the Sharks!

Ok, so not Vodacom Super Rugby but a quick look at next weekend's Heineken Cup final 'SA' representation in the squads of the finalists...

Metres run: Crusaders 151-83 Sharks
Carries: Crusaders 46-24 Sharks
Defenders beaten: Crusaders 4-5 Sharks
Clean breaks: Crusaders 2-1 Sharks
Tackles made: Crusaders 24-38 Sharks
Missed tackles: Crusaders 4-5 Sharks
Turnovers won: Crusaders 0-3 Sharks
Kicks in play: Crusaders 19-21 Sharks
Rucks won: Crusaders 28-16 Sharks
Rucks lost: Crusaders 4-1 Sharks

Lineouts won: Crusaders 4-10 Sharks
Lineouts lost: Crusaders 0-1 Sharks
Scrums won: Crusaders 4-2 Sharks
Scrums lost: Crusaders 0-2 Sharks
Penalties conceded: Crusaders 5-7 Sharks

40' - Top effort by the 14-man Sharks side

40' - And Frans Steyn does just that!

Crusaders lead 13-10 at HALF-TIME as the hooter sounds

39' - Amazing as the Sharks win a penalty and can close the gap!

36' - But Slade keeps the Sharks within a converted try as he misses the kick...

35' - The Crusaders will have a chance to extend their lead through Slade after the Sharks steal the ball illegally at ruck time

Last 10 minutes have seen 81% possession for the Crusaders. Not sure the Sharks had 19%...

34' - The Sharks' gameplan predictably gone to pot.

Just kicking everything in hope at the moment as they inch towards a half-time chat with Jake White #funtimes

Steyn clearly has not been keeping an eye on the big boys when they hit the scrum machine! - Front Row Grunt (and I on the same wave-length...)

31' - Wise decision by the Crusaders. The win still needs to be secured as the Sharks restart and get into the Crusaders' half for the first time in ages

30' - Steyn's weight adds nothing and the Crusaders monster them and win a penalty.

Slade adds the three-pointer and the Crusaders lead 13-7 after 30 minutes

Red card. He deserved that. Idiotic. That’s the Sharks dead in this match. And he’ll get a long ban - Kevin McCallum

29' - But a 5m defensive scrum for the Sharks... with flyhalf Frans Steyn adding his considerable weight at flank

26' - And from the next scrum Slade puts in a kick - for some odd reason - and the ball in knocked in-goal by Ryan Crotty.

Little patience shown by the Crusaders which is surprising. Coach Todd Blackadder must be annoyed

26' - Crusaders butcher another 5m scrum but thanks to a Reinach knock-on they get another chance...

25' - My oath this is a complete mess for the Sharks!

Literally everything going wrong now!

Stolen lineout... knock-on behind their own tryline. If the Crusaders keep patience, this could get UGLY for the men from Durban

22' - But the Sharks fail to find great distance and from the resultant lineout Reinach's clearance is charged down

21' - Penalty to the Sharks as the Crusaders are penalised for not scrumming straight. In on the angle fron Wyatt Crockett

21' - Tremendous defence from the Sharks as they hold out the Crusaders.

But can they do it for another 60 minutes?

First scrum with 7 men. Should be interesting...

19' - Going to be a L-O-N-G night for the Sharks as the Crusaders step up the pressure and opt for a lineout rather than a shot at goal.

8 Crusaders forwards v 7 Sharks...

Can just imagine judicial officers licking his lips ... South African stomping on a head ... That could be months out the game! - Front Row Grunt

18' - Twitter going crazy over the decision but 100% correct in my book

17' - Slade adds the resultant penalty and the Crusaders open up a 10-7 lead after 17 minutes

17' - Sharks down to 14 men for the remainder of the match - AND RIGHTLY SO!

Disgusting by Deysel who will hoping cop a lengthy ban for his actions

17' - RED CARD!

17' - Could be a HUGE moment here as Jean Deysel stamps on Crusaders flank Jordan Taufua head

16' - OH DEAR!

15' - The Crusaders sudden catch fire and set up a rolling maul which looks imposing but the Sharks are awarded a penalty

14' - Slade back on song and adds the CONVERSION as the scores are now level at 7-all after 14 minutes

12' - BIG hand-off by Slade after a shocker by Cobus Reinach and Frans Steyn results in the Crusaders' first try of the match

12' - TRY to the Crusaders!

12' - Slade's kick is short and the Sharks clear, BUT the Crusaders counter and SLADE scores!

11' - High tackle by Bismarck du Plessis on Willie Heinz will see Colin Slade take aim at goal from 48m out...

9' - Steyn steps up to add the CONVERSION and the Sharks lead 7-0 after 9 minutes

7' - Magnificent break by Sharks flyhalf Frans Steyn who busts through the Crusaders' defence before offloading out the back of the hand to S'BURA SITHOLE who scores!

7' - TRY to the Sharks!

Crockett's arse straight out toward the sideline ... Hoffman gets it right this time - Front Row Grunt

5' - And just to even out matters, the second scrum results in a penalty to the Sharks...

3' - Poor hands from the Crusaders in the early stages as the Sharks are let off the hook on two occasions

1' - First scrum DOESN'T result in a reset (shock, shock, horror) but rather a penalty to the Crusaders who kick for touch

0' - Colin Slade gets the match started for the Crusaders who are playing from right to left

The Crusaders have scored 18 tries in their last 5 matches.

The Sharks have scored 3...

As we head into today's match, the Sharks currently top both the SA Conference and the Overall standings, while the Crusaders are third in the New Zealand Conference and fifth in the Overall log.

A victory for the Crusaders would put them top of the NZ Conference and a bonus-point win could see them sup

plant the Sharks atop the Overall log

Welcome to Sport24's LIVE scoring and interactive commentary on today's Super Rugby match between the Crusaders and Sharks in Christchurch!

  • 80'

The Sharks give away a penalty and they Saders have to tap and go because time is up! They lose the ball and THE SHARKS HAVE WON!!

  • 80'

Jake White spoke of rewriting history at the start of the game and I guess the message hit home for his players! An incredible feat for the visitors against the current form side in the competition. All Sharks fans watching this match must have had goosebumps throughout! The rugby was fast paced and the Sharks character was tested to the limit. This is a massive statement that the Sharks outfit of 2014 can win the title. The Crusaders will wonder how they couldn't put this one away.

  • 79'

They kick it and it goes out on the full! One last chance for the Crusaders!

  • 78'

Incredibly tense times as the Crusaders attack! The Sharks scramble defense is heroic and they manage to prevent any breaks. The ball goes into touch and the Sharks have a line out. They can kill it from here...

  • 76'

CONVERSION, SWIEL, 25-30. Swiel adds an important two points! Crusaders have to score now!

  • 75'

TRY!! SHARKS, COOPER, 25-28. A miracle could be on! They drive strongly before Jordaan crashes it up well. The Beast clears everyone at the ruck and Cooper picks and runs straight through and over!!

  • 74'

Sharks turnover and put the Crusaders under huge pressure! Slade clears poorly and Sharks have a line out inside the 22m!

  • 73'

Kyle Cooper attempts a turnover and gives away a penalty! Looks a bit harsh, the replay shows that he was contesting fairly.

  • 73'

PENALTY, CRUSADERS, SLADE, 25-23. Slade doesn't miss this simple one! They have the lead once more.

  • 72'

Slades kick is wide! Mvovo gathers and dots down under huge pressure from a Crusaders follow up.

  • 71'

Crusaders pressure is too much and they win a penalty! Slade will have a shot to regain the lead.

  • 70'

Crusaders continue to put a 13-man Sharks under all kinds of pressure as they out number the Sharks in all facets of the game. They attack with Nadolo on the wing again. He just can't gather his own grubber through with the try line a begging! Scrum to Sharks inside their own 22m.

  • 69'

PENALTY, SHARKS, SWIEL, 22-23. Swiel takes the penalty as he is on for Steyn now and is immediately successful with the boot!

  • 68'

Sharks win a short arm, take it quickly and then manage a penalty as well! Steyn will have a shot from the corner of the 22m to take back the lead.

  • 67'

A bit of scuffle ensues after a ruck. Hopefully no more players have to leave. Just a bit of handbag stuff after seeing it on the TMO, back to the rugby now. Scrum to the Crusaders on their own 22m.

  • 64'

PENALTY, CRUSADERS, SLADE, 22-20. Slade gets his team in the lead. Thirteen men for the Sharks now.

  • 63'

Sharks do well to win a penalty and will be able to clear out of trouble! Steyn doesn't find touch. The Crusaders win back a high kick and are in the Sharks 22m. Simple mistakes costing the Sharks.

  • 63'

YELLOW CARD, ALBERTS. The Sharks needed something magical. Now they need a miracle. Alberts played the man without the ball.

  • 61'

Sharks were attacking well before a soft pass is dropped from Steyn and the Crusaders went on the counter attack. Nadolo gets the ball on the wing and puts a good grubber through. Reinach is back and runs into the safety of touch.

  • 59'

PENALTY, CRUSADERS, SLADE, 19-20. Slade nails an important 3 points for the visitors!

  • 58'

Crusaders win a scrum penalty and Slade will have a shot from the corner.

  • 57'

Slade puts in a dangerous grubber which the Sharks again fail to collect smoothly! Jordan Taufua fails to collect as well with the try line straight in front of him!

  • 56'

Reinach puts in a box kick for Mvovo to chase! Mvovo is blown for off side and the Saders will have a chance to attack inside the Sharks half after finding a good touch.

  • 54'

Just short from Steyn!! Obviously slightly more than a nudge required.

  • 54'

Sharks win another penalty! Sharks playing with confidence and the Crusaders with a hint of fear of loss? About 50m out in the corner...nothing more than just a nudge for Francois Steyn.

  • 52'

PENALTY, SHARKS, STEYN, 16-20. That's the winning formula from the visitors.

  • 51'

The Sharks put a lot of pressure on the home side but they do well to get it into touch! The Sharks win a penalty! Steyn will have a crack.

  • 50'

The Sharks gather the ball after the Saders miss touch. They attack strongly and eventually Reinach kicks into touch inside the Crusaders 22m. Great play from the Sharks.

  • 49'

Sharks give away a penalty after the reset inside the Crusaders 22m. They can't afford to do that in the visitors territory.

  • 48'

PENALTY, CRUSADERS, SLADE, 16-17. No mistake from Slade who narrows the deficit.

  • 47'

The Sharks tackle well, but they can''t get away with no mistakes. The Crusaders have a penalty straight in front. Slade will reduce the gap to 1 point.

  • 46'

Crusaders win a penalty and kick for touch inside the Sharks 22m. The visitors will need to show the same resilience they did during the first half on defense.

  • 44'

CONVERSION, STEYN, 13-17. Incredible the Sharks have a 4 point lead. Just the start they needed!

  • 43'

TRY! SHARKS, REINACH, 13-15. Unbelievable! A loose line out is kicked through by Reinach who shows incredible pace and skill to control it and win the race to the try line! All previous passes and mistakes are forgiven!

  • 42'

Steyn gets us underway for the second half. A kick battle ensues which the Saders win with a line out inside the Sharks half!

  • 40'

PENALTY, SHARKS, STEYN, 13-10. Boy did the Sharks need that! Steyn launches one from way back and has the accuracy. That's half time.

  • 40'

The match has definitely been marred due to a second of madness by Jean Deysel but the Sharks have shown real character to remain in contention. It's quite simple for the second half. Sharks have to slow the game down, be extremely accurate and kick for territory. They need to frustrate the home side into making mistakes and let Frans Steyn's boot do the rest. Crusaders on the other hand will try keep ball in hand and run the Sharks flat!

  • 39'

That's more like it from the Sharks. They found some territory, set up a solid driving maul and eventually the Crusaders err and give away a penalty! Steyn will have a shot.

  • 37'

Slade's kick is wide! Sharks need to get hold out to half time and get some word of wisdom from Jake White.

  • 36'

One thing the Sharks are doing are making their tackles! Mvovo gives away a penalty as he tries to turnover the ball. Slade will have a shot at goal.

  • 35'

Sharks looking extremely rushed and edgy. They need to calm down and focus on being accurate and clinical at this stage. Crusaders doing everything to pressurize the visitors and it's working.

  • 32'

Sharks making mistakes left, right and center. A forward pass is thrown as they aim to get some momentum after a line out on the half way.

  • 31'

PENALTY, CRUSADERS, SLADE, 13-7. No mistake from Slade! Sharks doing well to not let the flood gates open.

  • 30'

The Sharks scrum buckles under the Crusaders pressure and the home side win a penalty. Slade should get an easy three pointer here.

  • 29'

Nearly another shocker from the Sharks! Slade puts a grubber through for Crotty to run onto but the Sharks read it and Marais gets back. He fails to dot it down but Crotty just knocks on as he aims to touch down.

  • 27'

Crusaders are completely dominating a 14 man Sharks team! The visitors are not giving up and manage a turnover on their own line! A shocking pass from Reinach is knocked on by Jordaan who was about to clear.

  • 24'

Sharks win another penalty, this time on defense! Steyn has more of an angle to work with puts his team inside the Saders' half.

  • 23'

Sharks win a penalty at the scrum! They'll need all of Steyn's ammo to get them as far away as possible. He finds touch inside his own 22m.

  • 22'

Sharks stay committed and defend well. They manage to prevent a strong attack from the Crusaders and win a scrum on their own line.

  • 19'

SP Marais is caught at a ruck a bit isolated and is penalized. Slade kicks deep into the Sharks half. The visitors are going to need to play out of their skins now.

  • 16'

PENALTY, CRUSADERS, SLADE, 10-7. Slade takes advantage of Deysel's mess and adds three points.

  • 15'

The Crusaders are on attack again as they set up a driving maul in the Sharks 22m. The Sharks defend well and win a penalty as the home side hold onto the ball at the ruck! Great work from Steyn and Jordaan to win that.

  • 15'

RED CARD, SHARKS, DEYSEL. Disgusting really from the Sharks player. You just can't stomp a players face. After an exciting start, this has really put a damper on the match.

  • 15'

Oef! Deysel might get a red here. Slowmo shows him clearly stomping on a players face.

  • 13'

CONVERSION, SLADE, 7-7. Slade makes no mistake this time with a far easier attempt.

  • 12'

TRY! CRUSADERS, SLADE, 5-7. Soft try! A kick from the Saders bounces on the Sharks 22m as Reinach fails to gather. It pops up for Crotty who offloads to Slade who goes over!

  • 11'

The Crusaders win a penalty just inside the Sharks half but Slades attempt is short. Mvovo gathers and fails to find touch!

  • 10'

CONVERSION, STEYN, 0-7. Frans adds to his sides tally to give them the full 7 points with a solid kick!

  • 9'

TRY! SHARKS, SITHOLE, 0-5. Incredible try!! After simple loop move Frans Steyn breaks through unmarked! He takes on a few Crusaders players and throws a no-look out the back of the hand to Sithole at pace who crashes over! Steyn is a genius!

  • 8'

The Sharks make an attacking surge but a grubber through by Jordaan comes off a Crusaders player and gives them possession. Mvovo nearly intercepts by kicking a low pass from a Saders player but the ball is marked inside the 22m and the home side clears.

  • 6'

This time the Sharks win a scrum penalty! These scrum penalties seem like a bit of a lottery to me.

  • 5'

The Crusaders make an unforced handling error on attack after some solid defense from the visitors. The Sharks can't make use of the advantage for the counter attack and we come back for the scrum.

  • 2'

Crusaders win the first scrum battle as they are awarded a penalty! Slade finds touch just outside the 22m.

  • 1'

The Crusaders get us underway! A box kick from Reinach is fumbled by the home side and the Sharks get an early set piece in the Saders' half!

  • 0'

Crusaders news: Tom Taylor starts at full-back and as Israel Dagg is rested. In the second row, Dominic Bird comes in for Luke Romano, who is out with a broken ankle. Scrum-halves Willi Heinz and Andy Ellis have rotated again so that Heinz takes the starting spot for his 50th Crusaders game. Blackadder said Kieran Read was again ruled out of contention early in the week rather than pressuring him to be ready to play with little time to prepare.

  • 0'

The Sharks have NEVER won playing away against the Crusaders. Jake Whites message to the team today was simple; "The nice thing about history is that it is there to be rewritten." The Sharks will most certainly want to do that tonight to keep their top spot and show that they are still real contenders for the 2014 title.

  • 0'

Welcome to AAMI Stadium in Christchurch for this much anticipated Super Rugby Clash! Things are starting to get very interesting on the log standings where the Sharks could be potentially knocked off the top spot for this first time since...well the beginning of the competition! The Crusaders have done their usual mid tournament turnaround and will be looking to continue their crusade to the top spot this evening.

  • 0'

Sharks news: There are three personal changes and two positional switches compared to the side that lost to the Brumbies last week. After playing at lock in recent weeks, Willem Alberts reverts back to the loose-forwards, starting at number eight while Tera Mtembu gets a start at flank, meaning Ryan Kankowski and Keegan Daniel drop to the bench. Etienne Oosthuizen comes into the second row, while Jannie du Plessis and Tendai Mtawarira will win their 100th caps in an unchanged front row. SP Marais returns to the starting line-up at full-back meaning Lwazi Mvovo moves to the wing ahead of Odwa Ndungane in the only change amongst the backline personnel.
